SGFC or fruit in jars?

Hey folks,
I've started my first grow (PFTek) and have a dozen half-pint jars colonizing now. Everything is looking great so far, but after reading (and reading and reading) I've decided this will be my only PFTek grow. I want to jump straight into grain & monotubs and am in the process of acquiring the equipment I need now.
The Psilocybin Mushroom Handbook offers an "improved" PFTek that fruits right in the jars, no SGFC needed. I'm tempted to follow it. I'd rather not go through the trouble to make a SGFC just to use it once and toss it out. Before I decide either way, I'd hoped to draw upon the collective wisdom here. Is it worth doing the SGFC if I never use it again?
(Quick & dirty "improved" method: Break up/stir the verm on top with a fork, mist it with water, cover sides of jars to reduce light penetration, set 'em in a clear plastic tub, provide 8 hours of light and mist the verm casing a couple times each day. They claim 4 to 5 flushes from each jar using this method.)
Thank you for your time.

Well I don't blame you for wanting it to be your last pf tek. I only did mine once also. If you fruit it (you only have 1?) definitely go out of the jar. General rule of thumb is if everyone's doing it it's probably cuz it's the most efficient way. For wev you're researching.
The one exception being straight grains (no other bulk sub like poo/straw). I don't get why it's so unpopular around here it's awesome! And super easy to keep contam free if it's initially sterilized properly. The hardest part is just making sure you're maintaining a bit of bottom water at all times. Just a quarter inch or so, anything touching your myc will travel north.
Anyway I vote you don't fruit it! Look up slurry teks I love using them. You've already got live mycelium, put it to work so your not starting from spore again. 1 pf cake either slurried, or drowned and extracted as a LC will make you a near infinite amount of spawn.
Have fun whatever you choose!

Improved pf tek is garbage IMO. Lots of fail reported here with that one. If your heart is set on a mono then build a mono dial it in and top fruit the cakes in it. Or spawn the cakes to a mini mono. These cakes were top fruited in a mono.

However a SGFC is still decent. I rarely do cakes but I fruit trays to test genetics in my SGFC all the time.

SGFC are really nice for exotics if you ever decide to dabble in them later on.

I wouldn't fruit a BRF cake in the jar. I just birthed one today and considered it but it doesn't seem like very good fruiting conditions. I prefer to fruit in open air if I only have 1 cake. Just be sure to mist often.

Fruiting in jars isn't such a bad idea, You'll get bigger fruits just less of them. Here's some examples

The substrate doesn't even need to be that thick, but the jar size will make the difference because it's acting as a fruiting chamber. If

comapared to the pf tek fruited in sgfc's, the fruits are way bigger.

They can also fruit anywhere providing the temps are warm enough but we are working with a forgiving temp range for the most part anyways. Ive also found that the cake stay cleaner longer and no need to roll with verm also some like to have a casing layer for invitro.
Hope these pics give somewhat of an idea of what is possible, these were Golden Teacher variety.

There's the invitro tek? I used it for the last of my jars.
-------------------- Alright then, picture this if you will: 10 to 2 AM, X, Yogi DMT, and a box of Krispy Kremes, in my "need to know" post, just outside of Area 51. Contemplating the whole "chosen people" thing with just a flaming stealth banana split the sky like one would hope but never really expect to see in a place like this. Cutting right angle donuts on a dime and stopping right at my Birkenstocks, and me yelping... Holy fucking shit!

Thank you all for the replies.

Just to clarify, to do this I would simply place the jars in the empty monotub, remove the lids and keep the top layer of verm wet? Sounds easy enough.

Will do, thank you. I've got a dozen jars colonizing, so I may set a couple aside for this.
