Mankind and death

So I was watching a youtube video all about death and what people have done to try to live forever, anyways thats not my main point. But you can watch it here :
Thinking about what I had seen and learned I came up with one sentence, which I believe could be a great quote about man.
The sentence is; The curse of man is the knowledge of death.
The meaning behind this is that humans are the only living being that are aware of death and fully capable of understanding it.
Just wanted to know what you guys think, is it as good as I think or not so much?

Whether or not humans are the only beings aware of their inevitable demise is really debatable and likely impossible to know.
I'd say for the broad majority of people, death is viewed as a curse, but it doesn't have to be.

Yes I know It could be debated and it probably has, but I dont mean death itself, I mean the knowledge of its existence

So you're talking about how life itself is temporary, right?

Sometimes during hard times the knowledge that life isn't permanent has been a blessing. I have been exposed to death too many times, it doesn't phase me any more. I just hope my own death isn't painful. So, I don't see it as a curse, I see it as a natural part of life.

I definatly agree with both of the last posts. It is very temporary in the scale of time, and yes sometimes death can seem apealling.

But at the same time you have to consider that because this is temporary, you should do your best to make this world better for the future people who will also most likely come to the same understanding.
I personally do not believe in a religion that exists today, but I do believe that it would be possible for there to be some kind of being that has immense power, yet still not all-knowing as the christian god is portrayed to be.
I also do not think that we have some "purpose" in our lives, but I do believe that the best purpose we ever could have is to strengthen our species and to go on in the quest for knowledge of all things.

Not necessarily, your DNA could have great importance in terms of the structure of possible offspring's brains. In other words your DNA in combination with other DNA could make a genius.
I do know how unlikely this is, just saying that its possible is all.
