ID Request - Midwest USA
    #21815531 - 06/16/15 04:46 PM (8 years, 7 months ago)

Hey guys! I collected these in my back and front yard after we had a really humid, mildly rainy week here in Indiana. I tried to separate them into what I thought were different species based on obvious differences (i.e. cap shape and color or stem length/width). I'm no mycologist though so feel free to correct me on anything I misidentified lol.

All help identifying these is appreciated! Also any other helpful info about these species would be awesome

SPECIES 1

- sorry this print kinda sucks

Habitat: Grassy lawn

Gills: The gills are brown and free

Stem: Tan to light brown, very long (4-7cm), thin (1-2mm), lines going down and around the stem

Cap: Dry, Light brown to dark brown, 0.5-1.5cm across, conical, some have a wet ring around the bottom

Spore print color: Black

Bruising: No color change was observed.

Location: Midwest USA

SPECIES 2

Habitat: Grassy lawn

Gills: Very light, almost white

Stem: Tan to light brown, very long (3.5-5.5cm), pretty thin (<1-1mm), fibrous lines going down length

Cap: Dry, White to light tan, 1-2cm across

Spore print color: Black

Bruising: No color change was observed.

Location: Midwest USA

SPECIES 3

- this print kinda sucks too sorry

Habitat: Grassy lawn

Gills: The gills are brown and free

Stem: white to light brown, short (3-5cm), average of 2mm width

Cap: Dry, Light brown to dark brown, 1-1.8cm across, conical

Spore print color: Brown

Bruising: Blackish

Location: Midwest USA

SPECIES 4 - I only found two of these right next to each other

Habitat: Grassy lawn

Gills: Light brown

Stem: white, short (3-5cm), width 0.5-1mm

Cap: Hard to see some of these details in the pics because they dried out a little...

white, conical, flared bottom edge, dry, 0.7-1.0cm across

Spore print color: Brown

Bruising: No color change was observed.

Location: Midwest USA

SPECIES 5 - Found this single guy by himself. Originally thought it was part of species 3, but the stem is a lot thicker and the cap is not conical (but I could definitely be wrong ).

Habitat: Grassy lawn

Gills: Gills are dark brown

Stem: Brown, 3.1cm long, 2mm wide

Cap: Dry, light to dark brown, 1.5cm wide

Spore print color: Black

Bruising: No color change was observed.

Location: Midwest USA

The prints I see are brown. All are obviously Panaeolina foenisecii.

Welcome to the Shroomery!

Cool thanks!

So all of the differences in characteristics are variations in this species?
