Myco bags OK?
    #2181441 - 12/16/03 02:19 AM (13 years, 1 month ago)

A friend of mine is thinking about getting some autoclaveable filter patch mycobags with self healing injector sites. What he is wondering is if a normal h20/brf/verm mixture is used, can the bags be sealed at the top and completely sterilized using an oven? If so, would a normal vacuum sealer work well to seal the tops? Should the air be sucked out of the bags if possible? How much substrate is a good amount to put in bags that are 18'' high, 8'' wide, and 5'' deep?

I do not recomend using our bags in an oven. This could be a  bad thing.  :shake: Our bags can withstand 265 degrees for several hours in a  autoclave/pressure cooker

We do have bag that can be sealed before sterilizing (pressure cooker/autoclave). When using these bags it is best to evacuate all the air you can before it is sealed. The large size will easily hold 5 lbs of grain and similar amounts of sawdust/woodchips.
