Anyone go to coding academy?

Hey,
So I have been hearing off and on over the past couple of years about how coding academies are popping up and in a short time you could get a job as a coder/developer making a good bit of money.
I recently saw this ad on fb for appacademy, which is a 12 week program that advertises that you don't pay any tuition until after you get a job as a developer. Then its like 18% your first year's paycheck paid over 6 months. They claim 98% of their graduates make 95-105k or something like that.
But it seems like for that program you have to pass some coding screening and tests in pre-interview/interview.... Probably best to learn a bit first.
Has anyone pursued the path of a coder in life? Did you go to a coding academy? What's it like and how do you like your job?
I really like the idea of just focusing down for 12 weeks and learning a skill, and this seems to be a very valuable modern one.

Software engineering jobs are extremely popular. The likelihood of you finding a job in IT after you graduate is very unlikely. I have a friend who's still searching after 2 years of finishing his Masters in computer sciences and mathematics. His portfolio is also incredibly thick with personal projects.
Also, you can learn to write software in your spare time through online tutorials. That's how I did it, in my teenage years.

I work in something similar to a programming role, not as intense as software engineering more data gathering and reporting.
It's an area that you need to enjoy doing and be willing to put the time in on your own to learn i'd say. The money only comes when you are good at it and that'll only happen if you like spending your time doing it. You can pick up the basics easily enough and get your foot in the door with some companies but itll only get you so far.
There are loads of good free online courses, start with trying out something in that and if you're liking it then sign up for the academy. HTMl, CSS and Javascript are easy enough to start with. If you are good with excel then try VB. When the logic of how it all works clicks in your head then you can pick up other languages much easier. I mainly do online surveys but it was teaching myself VB that got me working for a big bank.
I liked coding though. I was always pushing our survey platforms to see what clientside script we could add into to make it do things better. Spent a lot of time at home just working through different ideas.
Or if you're really serious about making big money pick up a better language like c#

I have never used code academy, but for the sake of being a productive poster I will offer advice as I have tried to teach myself coding.
If you do not thoroughly enjoy the process then do not pursue it as a career. It will suck the soul out of you.
