Putting plates from cold storage to grain

Hey all
So I have a few clone plates in the fridge I forgot I had grown out to put to master jars. Theyre not touching the walls of the plates or anything but pretty grown out -I had these ready to go to grain I just didnt have the space so I stored them.
Its been a couple months, just wondering is it bad practice to put these plates to grain or should I grow new plates first?
Thanks!

That's a personal call. Half of us will transfer to a new plate first and half will just use them.

I like to transfer to a new plate with a different media to get it hungry again. A little while ago, I used a 3 month old MEA PE plate to inoculate a grain water agar plate. The transfer took over the grain water agar plate extremely fast, and now it's doing really well on the grain.

I always transfer to a new plate.. Sometimes they will sit in there for 4 or 5 months & I don't trust parafilm for that long!

Thanks guys yea Im glad its not just me getting weirded out. Refridgeraters are dirty who knows whats crawling around in there
I have a dedicated mini fridge for plates and slants but its still in the garage so my stacks of plates are in my (icky) fridge. I dunno theyre prolly clean but I would hate myself to lose a grow from trying to save a few days time right

You got it exactly right. Make a transfer to be sure it's all good. Much better to waste 3-4 days waiting on a petri than 1-2 weeks waiting on a grain jar that might not work out.
