SirShroomsAlott said: It isn't a pity parade, it's common sense, if only 50 years ago, they were mainly oppressed, they were probably pushed into poverty stricken areas because they weren't given the same jobs, same wages, since then the only reason it changed was because laws were implemented making it so they were considered equal, now their kids and their kids kids are stuck in those same living situations their parents/grandparents/great greatparents were made to live in with almost no other option. It's not as easy as them up and leaving and making it better.
Things are clearly better for black people now, but the remnants of what used to be, still exist, and still contribute. They majority are stuck, with no way out. To say it is solely there fault now, is just false.
"they were mainly oppressed"
Every ethnic group was oppressed, no one was given special wages or special living areas. Guess what happened when the Poles came into the US, they undercut the wages of the people working in the factories by -50% and they were hated for it, they didn't care.
They didn't care about not being accepted by the WASP, they had their OWN communities. Their own churches, their own neighborhoods, their own businesses.
"To say it is solely their own fault now is just false"
Really? What's the main cause of poverty? Having children you can't afford, who's fault is that? Who's fault is it when a culture doesn't embrace educational opportunities because it's too white? Who's fault is it when financial responsibility goes out the window? Who's fault is it when the criminal thug lifestyle becomes so common it's essentially idolized?

The difference is, black people pretty much the entire time they were in America, were looked at as subhuman, inferior to other humans, and only RECENTLY has that changed. I'm not arguing they don't contribute to the problem, I'm arguing that saying it's SOLELY their fault is wrong.
As I've already said, there are black people alive TODAY who remember a time when they were told they couldn't use the same bathroom, "Who's fault is it when a culture doesn't embrace educational opportunities because it's too white?" that might be their fault, but at the same time can I really frown upon it when there are people who can remember whites treating them as inferior, then their mindset seems to make a little more sense, whether it's right or not.
I'm not going to bother continuing arguing the rest of it because you won't convince me that black people have no one but themselves to blame, and you know I won't convince you that there might be other reasons that also contribute to it. So we'll just have to agree to disagree.

There are more than enough Negroes that they shouldn't need whitey to like them and they could get on with the business of making their own way. They have received preferential treatment for decades and yet they seem to be worse off. That aint whitey's fault.

I'm not saying it's just whitey's fault. But like every single other thing on the planet, I don't think it's so black and white that you can say it's only their fault or one thing that causes it. There is always maNY factors to every problem.
But I have no gain in arguing the point and even if I managed to change people's minds the world would still be the same way so there isn't really even a point in arguing in the first place.plus im on my phone and at work so it's hard to debate it anyway

i think between all the potential candidates, i actually like trump the most, him or rand paul and i only say rand paul because of his dad, and the hopes that if he won he'd pull an obama and do the opposite of everything he said, aka he would be like his dad.
but trump, he has his own money, he's already a made man, he's already knee deep house of cards style, but in my mind, if trump won, he wouldn't owe favors to nearly as many people compared to anyone else that won, simply because of all the strings he could already pull, favors he could cash in, and all the money he already has.
he practically ran for free the last election, he got his name right beside everyone elses without doing shit, and most people took it as a joke but lets be honest here, the last 20 years have been a fucking joke.
Donald trump as president actually makes fucking sense, thats the real joke

All government really needs from their presidents is their signatures..
If u could sign ur name u can be president of the USA or even queen of England
Anyway Donald trump winning presidency would be like when biff stole the time machine from doc brown and used it to go back in time to bet on horse races and unlimitely become the most successful man n the world

I'd say it's pretty safe. Trump has no shot and this is a publicity stunt. He is and always has been nothing but a self-aggrandizing whore.

irrelevent. American's don't really vote based on policy. Especially not for POTUS.
It would be nice if Americans had the stomach to be politically literate (as we always were historically) but it seems that most people i talk to are either a. totally jaded and apathetic about the act of voting b. rabid partisans who act like political parties are football teams c. idealists who can't tell the difference between something that would be cool, and something that will actually happen.

The problem with that is anyone who crticizes the system is labelled an idealist.
Anyone pragmatic is labelled apathetic.

i was painting with a broad brush it's true.
what i meant was that idealists want to get the cool end result, without understanding the incremental steps necessary to make cool shit tolerable to the opposition.
The sports fan types, think that their party can do no wrong, or at least that the other party is the devil and must be opposed at every turn.
the jaded ones simply don't think voting matters. In a way they can be right sometimes, but the principle is wrong. its like a self-fulfilling prophesy.
