I wouldn't shake it any more. Once is all you should do. Id give it some more time. I would use a filter disk on the jar and lift it up to inoculat in your gb rather than the SHIP and tyvek. Good luck.

if u saw recovery in one day after knocking with almost anything, thats not a good sign. even g2g i won't see recovery for 2 days or so, and thats not even when its leaping off.
i would go by the smell man.

I suggest you avoid LC until you are more familiar with sterile tek. If you had issues like that then its likely your LC is bad. Good thing you didn't inoculate 2 dozen quarts with it.

Thanks Peter! Maybe I shook it too much and it's needing to heal. I really went for it...

I did use sterile tek so I just need to keep trying till I 'get more familiar', as I don't see how else I could get more familiar. I used pressure cooker, glovebox, SHIP and dedicated fridge for its storage.
Ok gonna wait a bit longer then... will update. I just wondered whether LC to rye 25+ day for full colonisation is normal or whether it's this slow because I shook it too much.

Shouldn't even need to shake. LC should be done in a week tops. Just because you go through the motions doesn't mean your familiar. Its not intended as a put down. I did agar for years before I became confident enough for LC.

Pastywhite - not taken as a putdown at all, just didn't understand what you meant - you're right, thanks
I needed to know if this was normal or not it obviously isn't so super glad I bit the bullet and posted.
Just opened the bottle to chuck it, it smelled mushroomy alright but there's obviously something up with it and tbh didn't wanna take too deep a breath in case it was sick with something.
Gonna scale it down to trying again with agar wedge. Thanks for helping out a noob folks!
