So it looks like the spore syringes I made worked so far so good anyway there's growth on my new jars. I made some more popcorn jars when I woke up this morning to.

Damn that sucks. I would get the telephone brand agar powder from Ebay. I believe they have a 3pack for like 6 bucks and free shipping.

Or stop fucking with that food shit and get into powder agar, I don't even heat it up, just toss it in, mix and pour.

Don't knock the food grade agar. Can't imagine a noticeable difference in our applications.

I don't have to heat mine up?
That's the only difference. It's not more or less better, inferior, etc. I just don't have to heat it up.

Well.. I don't exactly mind heating it up. Been having to to thaw the frozen grain water recently anyway.

Premixed agar is a rip off.
http://out-grow.com/culture-media-isolation-tools-c-10/agar-agar-powder-p-114.html
http://out-grow.com/culture-media-isolation-tools-c-10/8-ounces-of-light-malt-extract-p-79.html
Get a 1/2 lb of the agar above and the 8oz of LME and spend $26 instead of $40, and also save 10% with discount code shroomery. Simple 10g of each keeps the recipe simple for 500ml, you can adjust for less or more agar in the mix based on your preference. 9g agar to 10g lme in 500ml is more common but I've used 10g agar and it works just as well.
You can also then just use the agar powder with grain water if you want. You could use the premixed stuff too, but it would be a waste.

For me it was easier to just throw it in the bottle and bam I'm done. But its preference I guess. I pour 30 plates from 500ml and 21g of premix, but its whatever.
When you use your grain water, is it the water you use after you boil your grains? You just dump it in a container before pouring your grains in the colander?

I catch it all under the strainer that I dump the grains onto. Then I filter it properly and get it into a container I can freeze it in. Dilute 50/50 with water, mix agar agar powder in, done. Don't have to dilute it, maybe you can dilute it way more than that too.

Uhh.. You know you can do the same thing with what I linked, right? Just get the 2 powders and put them in a tupperware together and shake it up and you have the same thing you just paid more money to have someone else do what takes 20 seconds to do yourself.. With the separate ingredients you also have more flexibility with what you can use it for, you can make the agar stiffer or softer by altering the agar content. Some folks have better luck germinating dried spores on softer agar. Some like stiffer agar for transfers, etc.

You filter it as well? I know innoc said on the last thread he uses a filter of some sort, what do you use juice?
the coffee filter failed hardcore like I said..
But I think diluting it might be a good idea for the agar, ill try the 50/50 for now
I don't think you understand juice, I literally am THAT lazy, but that also might be the reason why I cannot get my Pan Cyan spores to germinate, they must be really old. I might as well try mixing my own next time. I have the shit to do it with anyways.
I also bought a premix LC, it actually is workin very well but there is a good amount of sediment after filtering. I ordered some dextrose so I can use the LME I have to make some LC with that.

If we weren't talking about this between two different threads simultaneously it'd be a little easier to keep track of but for the record, in this particular thread, I use a plastic reusable coffee filter. It's got a poly-something or other (heat resistant plastic fibers) woven design to it so water flows straight through and the bottom of my coffee has a good strong layer of sediment (as does my grain water). But it works particularly well for just getting all the solids out. You can let the sediment settle to the bottom and start a slow pour from a large container into like 8 small ones before you start getting to the really murky part.
I use that coffee filter for all kinds of shit, I just don't tell my guests that use it the extent to which I do.
I use it at minimum, for my mushroom teas, grain water, coffee, and weed butter/oil.
