how do you maintain a temp of around 80 degrees in one room without over heating your sleeping quarters? Also without the use of a space heater? What kind of convection set up could I use? Or could I set up a little terranium and put it in the trunk of my car and park it in the shade (I live in the desert, it would definitely get that hot in there, but probably hotter so not the best option, just an idea)?

If any of my mushroom shit was 80F I would turn the AC on. Don't let your colonizing jars get much hotter than 75F

I wanna see a trunk grow tek.
Dude just keep them in the living room for a conversation piece like everyone else. They're comfortable at room temp.

You really don't need 80 degrees. Anything over 70 is fine, most will say. Most guys just heat there terrarium either with a heat mat or a fish tank heater. I leave my terrarium in line with my window so the sun heats it up to around 76. My normal room temp is around 68 and I've had no problems.

Contemplating the whole "chosen people" thing with just a flaming stealth banana split the sky like one would hope but never really expect to see in a place like this. Cutting right angle donuts on a dime and stopping right at my Birkenstocks, and me yelping... Holy fucking shit!

You're over-thinking it dude.
Regular room temperature is fine for growing. This time of year it's so hot that I don't even heat the room.
In winter I just leave the thermometer at the 'comfort zone'
If you're comfortable, so are your shrooms!

unnecessary.
Get 6500K daylight spectrum, 60 watt equivalent CFL. Fits in a regular light socket.

Don't use a heat mat or fish tank heater...
When needed, we heat the room, not the grow. Room temps are fine for cubes.
Like Bod pointed out.... 65 is better than 80. Too hot and the mycelium stalls or dies (if hot enough) Contams favor higher temps as well.
65-75F will work good with around 70F being perfect....from past experience.

Is any light completely necessary?
Also the syringe that I got ended up not having a needle point, so I just made a larger hole and dripped the solution on top of the cake than sealed up the hole with plastic wrap and than cut a slit on top of each hole of the plastic wrap. Would this be a problem?

Yes light is necessary for healthy mushrooms.
ans Yes if these are PF cakes then dripping the spores on top is a problem. If it is grain then no problem but with cakes you need a dry verm layer on top if the spores didn't get throw to the BRF then they won't germinate and you may have ruined your dry verm layer and cause it to contam.

Yeah you need the 6500k daylight spectrum cfl.
I have one room dedicated to cult and it has a recessed light. I put a 100 watt equivalent in and it grows as many tubs as i can cram in there. Just make sure all the tubs get exposed to the light. If you need to work more than one row of tubs depth wise where some will be blocked by others then you can start thinking about using another fixture.
