My first grow
    #21810750 - 06/15/15 01:10 PM (8 years, 7 months ago)

Hey everyone! I posted a while back asking some questions about whether my jars were showing signs of healthy mycelium growth or not.
Everyone seemed to think they were off to a good start, and they really were. I started these on 4/20.. Inoculated 6 jars, Treasure coast. Moved them to their fruiting chamber on 6/10 .. And here my babies are today. :-) what you guys think?

people are going to tell you to trim your tinfoil.

Especially cause I see perilite right on the bottom of some of your cakes.

lol space I like your short bus.

and wolf you don't have to have the jar with water and tube in it as long as you got all the proper holes throughout your chamber, like on the bottom and everywhere else. the perlite will be enough for humidity and the holes let in all the fresh air you need

First off, Bravo

Trim the foil...  *maybe* add a few more holes... and remove stuffing.

If your fruits are smallish  (less than 1 inch caps), you need more FAE (more holes)

You're definitely doing everything else right.    And don't forget to dunk your cakes for 12 hours or so between flushes!

Ok so I dont know if you guys could see, but I've got the terrarium rigged up with a CPU fan on the side, with a lil toggle switch I can just turn it on, because I didnt want to have to continuously open the lid to fan.
So, do you guys still feel like I need to fan more? I probably run that lil fan for about 10 mins three times daily. Sometimes a lil longer because I always fear they'll become TOO moist. I already live in Fl, so it's pretty humid.. always, lol. Wasnt too concerned about humidity not being enough.
Also, you guys mentioned to trim my foil, yes I was kinda thinking about that I dont like how big it is. The perlite that you see stuck to the bottom of those cakes unfortunately is because of my ignorance, I originally had placed the cakes directly ON the perlite. Upon further research I realized that was a, "no no." But I still agree, foil should be trimmed.

The jar with the bubble stone is because I didnt want to have to mist daily either.. So I dunno if Im being excessive or what.

As far as the lack of holes go.. Should I definitely put more? That seems to be the opinion across the board today.

Thanks for all yalls help, this site is great! :-)

myc cakes are really resistant to pretty much everything.  It's not a super delicate thing - pick it up by two clean fingers if needed.  I'm sure some very detail oriented gentleman will share an opposing view.  :crazy2:

colonized cakes are pretty contam resistant, yeah.
I'd still go for a true sgfc. air pumps rarely gives enough fae and are a bitch to dial in.
go for a tried and trusted method, aka sgfc!
