Huge new breakthrough in virtual reality: tactile sensation

I've been pondering about the possibility of this, but I didn't think it would happen this soon. Please, lets discuss the implications!
Won't be long before you have a full body suit for physical sensation. And you'll be having virtual sex.
I cannot believe just how fast this stuff is developing. I really want to get on board with developing this stuff.
And look up occulus touch if you haven't seen that. They made some big strides in the hand problem.

maybe in the future this will be available. seems like vaporware for now how many have they produced? how many people are actually testing it? and are they paid actors, or relatives of the creators just hyping it up?
as far as oculus, it sounds very buggy. they havent even released a working version, its still in beta
and oculus touch is just a controller. every game console ever has had one
not trying to sound like an ass, but people have been raving that virtual reality is just around the corner since the 80s

I fully expected skeptics. Understand where you're coming from.
I'm very optimistic about it. It seems to be happening.
The level of sophistication can only build

early baby steps are being accomplished but I want to see this technology in 20 years it will evolve and keep getting better each year !.. I wanna see shit 20 years from now I bet we will have flying cars /drones / advanced virtual reality /advanced weaponry / advanced aircrafts. and infantry suits !! maybe we will have robot Infantry within 20 years ! AI will eventually turn on us and humanity will collapse , small pockets will be scattered around the globe . so we must unite and create the resistance , in your lifetimeyou will see the machines rise and perhaps fall as well. <------ what are the chances of that actually happening cuz.. you .. know.. like anything's possible and stuff.

for sure. theres nothing to make but progress
i would love to be able to try out the bleeding edge VR tech whether its buggy or not.
if anything, im just bitter about VR news because it taunts us every few years and i can imagine how awesome it will be, till i realise i have to pay 1000$ for a really complicated beta device that i wouldnt know how to run correctly anyways

a really interesting idea I read somewhere was that all the top doctors could use virtual reality to remotely control surgery drones from anywhere in the world.

I seen this in a MXE session for the near future. Its going to be full body suits and people are going to wear those even in the streets as they experience Enhanced Reality. Your whole body becomes an interface for virtual reality.
This is the genesis of a multi trillion dollar industry. Everyone will want these suits just like a home or a car.
In the future these suits will even do medical diagnostics and defibrillate and peform CPR on you if needed.

They are going to work, in part, with small gel packs built into the suit whereupon vibration is enacted.
Gresh, just write it off as me being crazy, we'll see soon enough whether this is mad rambling or an easter egg.

That will actually be the force that drives commercial success Gesh. Thev ability to have virtual sex that feels real and leads to orgasm with firtually generated partners, your lover around the world or just anyone. The internet is for porn, the model withhout sexo will not be commercially viable.
The suits for kids will have the genital area disabled but the kids will hack into reenabling that functionality LOL.
The suit will be not unlike an aqua bodysuit, its gonna be very snazzy to look at.
First you get home from work and slip your suit on for a comfy massage, then it evolves to wearing em in the streets too, then there will be people wearing em 24/7, even transferring AND RECORDING sensations during sleep.
People will make programs with them, feelies that can be exchanged between people.
Its gonna be fucking awesome.
Its not about ME, itsd about the message.
For now its scifi but in the near future it wont be.

Its gonna be our world guys.
VR is going to make dream and reality merge.
Now its just me saying these things on the Shroomery but more and more shroomerites will be contacted through their trips, their dreams and psychosis and will start to build this imaginary world that soon will come true.
The Singularity will come in our lifetimes! Do not be afraid!
I love you all so much

Now we get to see if some of terence mckenna's ideas can become reality.
1) Having the virtual skin of a cuttlefish. (their skin changes in color and texture to display emotions) http://acp.eugraph.com/cephal/
2) Changing words into beheld objects. A little experiment in visual language.

It's funny hallucinating used to be counter culture now people play videogames and shoot each other
sex with strangers the same and now people are figuring out ways to make it happen
but do the original taboo's get elevated? or do they become more obscure?

It is definitely quite the leap, assuming it is possible.
Last: could be symbolically represented easily enough. 3 dots with the last one highlighted.
Straight: a straight line
impossible: maybe one of those 3d triangles escher built. https://d2t1xqejof9utc.cloudfront.net/screenshots/pics/2d29cb7b93141e6f696e8bd6109fa69c/medium.JPG
There's a possibility of representing at least some words this way. Maybe the level of sophistication could be built. Who knows. Could be a worthless but interesting idea.

The, impossible, just, cant, of, visualize. I like your idea about impossible, but it could easily be misinterpreted. Terrence has a few good ideas but quite a few of them are nothing but wild fantazisation. I think he even openly admits that in a few of his lectures.

I'll admit there's a high possibility I'm chasing my tail here. Terence definitely says some things that make me shake my head in disbelief.
One thing that bugs me is: How would these visual representations be any better than merely projecting the written words into virtual space?

People with synesthesia do so constantly. In fact the letters on the screen are visualizations of the words they represent, and the words themselves are symbols for whatever raw feed of consciousness underlies words.

Maybe in just arguing for the sake of arguing but Id imagine that the visualizations would differ wildly between people for any given word. Especially for something as diffuse as impossible. Its open to creative interpretation rather then the concrete definition of written word. Something that effectively makes its communication in such a form useless.
