What a load of BS. Vegetarian is such a broad word that is basically means jack shit these days. I mean, i can be a vego and still eat fully processed foods that are toxic AF. Just cause you don't eat meat doesn't automatically = health. Its pretty fucking basic common sense to see this. I bet if those people tested who only ate unprocessed organic foods, in a WELL balance Vego diet, they wouldbe found to have MAJOR health benefits. What a crappy study. Its not the type of food you eat but the quality in which it was grown, harvested and cooked. Its a common thing for people to think just not eating meat is healthy.. Well no it not as simple as that. Alotta MMA fighters are Vego because of the energy recuperation benefits, but they eat a balance diet. There was a 50 year study just released about meat eating. Found people that ate red meat more than 2 times a week had a higher rate of basically every thing.. So much killing on this planet that if we all stop killing meat, across the earth, death and killing would drop by a huge percentage. Something i think the world needs. Less killing.

Over the last few months I've been slowly transitioning from a very carnivorous diet, consisting of probably more than half meat, to a vegetarian or even possibly vegan diet (almost entirely for ethical reasons). Within the next 10-12 months or so I plan to have stopped eating meat altogether. I am still large, I am still strong, my athletic performances have improved slightly (not statistically significant though) etc. Although I haven't yet cut meat out of my diet altogether, with my meat consumption a small fraction of what it used to be, I haven't noticed any of the stereotypical criticism's received by vegetarians. The only difference I've noticed so far is slight cardiovascular improvement, slight improvement in cognitive clarity, and a slightly improved quality of sleep. If this trend continues then I expect to be quite pleased with the results of my transition. I don't see what's so bad (health wise) about vegetarianism...? All the meat we eat comes from animals who are, themselves, vegetarians, so there is no nutritional deficiency in principle...? Forget about potentially biased correlative studies.. are there any actually good explanations for why vegetarianism is bad for one's health? I have yet to hear any.
Just thought I'd throw in my two cents here.

It is important to eat your weight in food each day to keep your legs from becoming too thin.

They gave me fat-free ranch damnit! But at least there's only 47 pepperoni slices, that's 4 less than last time so I'm almost vegetarian.

A cross-sectional study taken from the Austrian Health Interview Survey AT-HIS 2006/07 found that vegetarians are actually less healthy than normal eaters. Subjects were matched according to their age, sex, and socioeconomic status leaving 1320 people - 330 vegetarians, 330 that ate meat but still a lot of fruits and vegetables, 300 normal eaters but that ate less meat, and 330 on a more carnivorous diet.
After controlling for variables, they found that vegetarians did have lower BMI and alcohol consumption but had poorer overall health. Vegetarians had higher incidences of cancer, allergies, and mental health disorders, a higher need for health care, and poorer quality of life.
While this study is not the ultimate metric, I expect the True Believers will be along shortly with hand-wringing and emotionalism to explain why this is so.
Their study sucked cow balls.
Their bias shows up immediately with the strange diatribe in their "study description" against "wealthy liberal" vegetarians who clearly don't eat a "normal" diet.
