First you put it down. Then you go out and buy different agar.

I see.. I will have to check with the pantry that sold it. It doesn't have sugar listed.. But they package it themselves. I searched alot in my town and couldn't find it as bars or the telephone one.

Go to a health food store and ask for it. It should be near all the other gelatin dessert shit.

The place I went is that kind of store and they say they get it like that and sugar is not listed as being included in the mix. So sugar is not my problem..im not too concerned, im going to get it right eventually.

Quit playin' around with several trips in your car to a few different spots to source agar supplies. Order agar & agar supplies online, have it delivered to your door, and get up. http://www.fungi.com/search-results.html#/?q=agar

I'm currently PCing my first Pasty plates. Unfortunately I don't think it's going to go as planned, my PC came up to pressure much faster than I thought it, so the agar may have boiled over. On top of that, the mini rounds were very unstable in the PC, so it wouldn't surprise me to open my PC tomorrow and see some of them fallen over.

You shouldn't leave them in there over night. You could have still done that correctly even with all that going on if you just opened it after the PC cycle and set them all on a flat surface. The boiling over doesn't even matter with easy agar in these things, I find. If it does, it's negligible, but you don't want the weird ass slant thing that'll form in a half-submerged pasty plate.

Well the OP said to leave them in there, and I wanted to follow the post exactly since this is my first time preparing agar. My jars did end up sideways this time though. I either need to put some sort of rack in my PC, or let the jars cool outside the PC on a flat surface. With the latter, I'm worried about condensation forming inside the plates, and also exposing them to open air. Does the 2 layers of 3m tape really allow me to just leave them sitting out and not worry?

i darn fucked up and forgot to put the paper towels and foil over my lids before pressure cooking my last batch. well i transfered 3 clones to 10 plates. i guess we shall see what comes of them. any bets as to what happens? ill put my money that they will colonize contaminant free and will fruit in tubs a few flushes.
i leave these plates in the pc overnight all the time. it hasn't caused me any issues.

they had the micropore tape. they didn't fill up with water. i placed a pan lid over them to hold them in place. it must have shielded them a bit.

That's a good idea with a pan lid. I double foil wrap all my pasty plates now, I kept getting water in a couple every run until I doubled it up. All it would take was a little tear in the foil.
