Id request on a Boletus
    #21806002 - 06/14/15 12:10 PM (8 years, 7 months ago)

Habitat: Forest floor, found growing near spruce and fir

Gills: "Gills" are yellow, these have turned brown with age

Stem: White/yellow turning brown with age

Cap: Brown, 3 inches across

Spore print color: too old to print, apologies

Bruising: Bruises slightly brown, age and worm damage also causing a browning.

Location: Far northwestern US fairly close to Canada

I've just started to get into boletus and recently found and ate a King which was delicious and possibly one of the best tasting wild mushrooms I've ever had. I'm wondering what these are because 80% of all boletus I see are this particular type, they are all about the same size and seem to grow pretty thickly where they do grow. I haven't been messing with them, this is the freshest one I could find, the gills are normally a healthy bright yellow but this one was turning brown and slimy.
