Can anyone school me on how to visually identify verticillium mycelium so as not to get it confused with cubensis mycelium?

This is actually a stellar question and one I don't have the answer to since I cannot say with 100% certainty what I've been battling.

I'm very interested too. This is from a thread not too long ago:

Experience trumps book knowledge most the time, at least in my opinion.
I really want a scope....
This is all correct. I have a perfect example.

So it goes without saying that this plate is totally fucked, but only the area directly at 12 o'clock has any cube myc in it. The rest is all vert. This is a side effect of having too many plates going. I didn't even notice this until it was too late to transfer.
The untrained eye would probably think this plate is okay because it's white, but trust me. It's nearly all vert.
http://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php/Number/21765602 It looks like it's almost translucent as opposed to the cube myc which is opaque and seen on top. Also it's a bit fluffier and looks not as organized as mycelium would be. That's my opinion at least.

Yup Mad Season, I ran into that thread a few days ago and that pic kinda scared me, which inspired me to create this thread. I've been taking clones lately from tubs that may have small signs of vert so I just want to be safe.
Regarding the photo: You're right, it looks like the leading edge of the vert myc is translucent. But I don't even see the cube myc at 12 o clock? Is it behind the "K" and the "R" in "Oakridge"?

ohhh. the leading edge still looks pretty "feathered" for cube myc. is it possible that vert is riding along the cube myc?

If you look in the "ridge" it looks like it's infused with it and the verts taken over the leading edge in that area. It has already taken over the whole thing in that dish I'd imagine. Vert can do that

I can't exactly call it vert but here you can see some mold examples and cube myc growing together.

Dunno man. All I know is it turns green like trich or maybe it weakens myc enough for trich to set in. I'm not sure if vert sporelates green or not

Oh then I doubt it. Verts notorious to do a dry bubble and infect the fruit bodies. Not turn green.

it turns green in the FC or the agar plate? i'm pretty sure vert doesn't sporelate green.

yea those look pretty moldy but what makes you think its vert? did you clone from a vert infected fruit?

Both tubs I took clones from were full of mutants including vert. Been that way since print so cloned on agar to get away from it. The other 17 plates are clean and healthy. If its not vert I have no idea what it is. This shit covered the surface of the plates in 3 days. I thought it was cob at first by how fast it grew but it too white
