Dose higher and higher until it overwhelms you and holding on to your ego becomes impossible.

What makes you say you can't let go? What happens exactly?

Id say relaxing music, lie on a bed, focus on breathing.

Doing this will let it take you -and when you start feeling weird from it just don't fight it...Continue the breathing exercise with a huge smile on your face with eyes closed.

You'll get there.

If you want to push the experience and dive into the visuals and let go, I recommend dosing higher and hanging out in a relaxed environment. Maybe play some chill music or binaural beats. Stare at cool things and focus your eyes. Or close your eyes and meditate.  Use the mindfold.

This plays in direct relation to your current state of mind/consciousness.  It sounds like you have some fear in you which we all do.. eventually, we just have to learn how to overcome it.

Study the pyramid.  Lift your state of mind/consciousness from the lower levels of the pyramid which are fear, anger, stress/anxiety and trip in a more positive higher state of consciousness.

Once you are able to do this, your mind will relax and let go much easier. The ego is tied greatly to the lower levels of consciousness which are fear driven.  The ego was made over your lifetime to protect you from the evils of our environment, but once you get to a point where you understand your ego is holding you back, you will be able to recognize it for what it is, remove it and reach higher states of consciousness like never before.

On another note, higher dose does help, but try and be happy and in the right state of mind first and foremost

I couldn't control a thing on higher doses,I always go into it with the intention too so I can steer things in an experimental fashion but always laugh my tits off at how absurd I am even contemplating this idea once in the maelstrom. I never learn either, always thinking the same every time and boom Im gone, no f, ing idea.lol
On the subject of EGO, when scooting round the message board  on replies to different  topics can't help but feel there's a few big ones lurking here....

Check out this post by Quartzy from a similar thread, he nailed it:

I have taken upwards of 400 mcg and 100 mcg, and had stronger trips on less.  It took me a long time to figure acid out.  It still surprises me sometimes, but I have found that any kind of stupid hippie spiritual stuff is, in fact, quite useful.  I'm not talking about listening to the grateful dead.

Set and setting is fucking HUGE with LSD, much moreso than other substances as far as "getting there."  I think set and setting is always important with psychedelics, but in the case of say, mushrooms, it's more about avoiding a bad experience.  With acid, it's very easy to have underwhelming experiences if you  just sit there waiting for something to happen.

I had a pretty wild trip recently after acquiring a copy of BE HERE NOW.
http://www.amazon.com/Be-Here-Now-Ram-Dass/dp/0517543052
Written, incidentally, by Tim Leary's partner in crime back in the acid heydays.  Pretty easy to read while you're tripping, since it's more of a graphic-based "zine."  Flipping through the pages tripping is like reading an oracle.  I'm fairly certain he produced it for this specific effect.  Good pictures, good ideas, but if you have a problem with spiritual talk then it might be objectionable.  At the very least, it can open your mind up to a lot of eastern ideas about spirituality, which center more around consciousness.  It's like 8 fucking dollars on amazon right now, total steal and everyone is always impressed by it if it's out on your coffee table.

Playing around with any kind of spiritual techniques or meditation can REALLY set your trip off, regardless of whether it's "real" or not, your tripping-mind will believe it.  I had some crazy experiences after watching this SUPER CHEESY "journey through the chakras" thing, which I could never bear to watch sober, but every time I watch it coming up my trips are fucking wild.

Natural environments are great too.  I've found that moving a lot (like hiking) tends to bring it down a little bit, but once you find a spot to camp out for the afternoon, it's pretty great.  Sunset is a good time to be peaking/plateau, because the colors are fucking gorgeous.

Teeth grinding and physical pain (otherwise known as body load) could be a good indicator that something is blocked in your body-mind-spirit equation.  Try doing some light and easy yoga poses.  You can have a lot of emotional content and other stuff stored in your muscles, I get it in my jaw and in my hips.  Yoga tends to open release a lot of that stuff and the "energy" of LSD can be expressed in my consciousness more easily, as opposed to being expressed as BODILY TENSION.  Pay attention to that shit.  Seriously, you can ignore the rest of the spiritual stuff if you want, but this is a physiological thing.  Your mind takes things and puts them in weird places.

Look up sun salutation, otherwise known as "Surya namaskar A."  Youtube video or just print out a sheet and follow it.  It's a short routine and probably the most basic classical yoga.  You usually repeat it a few times but it's so common that there are probably thousands of youtube videos or audio files that can guide you through it.  If you have specific pain in certain areas and you already know where that manifests, look up some "yin yoga" poses that may be able to address those problem areas.  Those are longer-held poses that stretch fascia connective tissue and do some pretty serious opening.

But yeah, basically you gotta work on opening yourself up.  Don't drink the night before, don't get stoned that day, clear your mind a little, set good intentions, and definitely the yoga or any kind of stretching, maybe even tai chi.  I find LSD to be a really energetically based thing, and if you tap into that it's where the substance really takes off.  Shrooms, by contrast, are more sedative and dreamy, and they'll take you on a ride regardless.  I would also say NOT to expect any particular state, because you're not gonna fucking know what it is until you're there.  LSD does not really *reliably* produce out of body experiences.  Even ego-death is hard for me to get to on doses of less than 400mcg.
