First timer. Mold in spawn bags?
    #21802714 - 06/13/15 02:41 PM (8 years, 7 months ago)

I already know the answer but figured it wouldn't hurt to get confirmation. This my first ever run through. About half mt jar show growth with no apparent problems but one of my spawn bags has green spots various places within the mycelium. I'm hoping there a slight possibility of bruising but green usually means one thing. I have already separated it but would like some opinions anyways. These are anything but the best pics but wherever you see darker coloration there is a medium dark green spot.

How recently did you mix it up? The last pic looks like bruising but the first 2 are too blurry for me to say. The first 2 look trichy to me.

if it was just in a couple spots I would feel more optimistic. I broke it up again when picking it up a couple days ago but there are individual grains with a green on it the color you would see on a loaf of bread. Thats why I figured it was a loss. Hopefully I wont see anything similar in the second spawn bag cuz I had planned to use it to inoculate more jars

Your inoculate is bad.  Start over, its the only way trich shows up with out mushroom mycelium first.

There was mycelium growth before that

I don't see any where the spot is, sorry.  I still stick with my statement though.

Thats because i inevitably broke it up while looking through it all for mold. Either way I'm sure you are right and 'll just keep it separated and see what happens.

It should begin recovering in 24-48 hours. The fact you mixed it up a few days ago is very worrying. I don't even use spawn that's 100% colonized and doesn't recover by 48 hours.
