A question about Microwave Sterilization.

Hey, I've read your FAQ, here's a copy of what it says:
"Thanks to this innovative technique, pressure-cooker sterilization may be a thing of the past. Why didn't someone think of this before? Well, here it is:
You will need to use PLASTIC containers (i.e Tupperware). Punch holes on the lids as per PF's method. Pre-sterilize the containers by placing them in a tray of water a few millimeters deep. Set the microwave for 8 minutes and verify that the power is on "high".
Carefully remove the containers and add the substrate.
Once again, place the containers back on the trays. Make sure that you have some water in the tray (just a few millimeters deep is enough). Don't forget that you need to have the inoculation holes punched even before pre-sterilization (otherwise you'll have a messy microwave to clean up when the substrate heats up).
Thats it! Let cool (for a few hours at least). Inoculate in the usual manner. The individual who brought this technique to life claims to have employed it succesfully....and I have no reason to doubt."
OKAY. The first question I have is do I use plastic containers instead of jars as the PF tek says?
Question two, How long should I nuke them for, and what condition should they be in when I take them out?
Question three, it says put them on a tray of water, is that wise? As a microwave is electronic, electric + water = OMFG!
Thanks for your patience and understanding in advance guys.

is that from the shroomery faq?
pressure cookers are only essential if you're doing grains (birdseed, rye, popcorn etc) - you can use a lidded saucepan for a riceflour-based substrate. plastic is okay so long as it can withstand the heat. and microwaves are okay with water - it's metal they don't like.
good luck

Essex boy! I'm a Camdenite meself
glass is easier to work with probably - you can even use drinking glasses. check out www.fungifun.org/pf if you do use the microwave (which i ain't gonna recommend, personally) try 10 mins on high, a couple minutes to cool, then repeat. the most important thing is to sterilise it, then never touch the substrate - this is why a spore syringe was devised. check out www.fsre.org for a free print!
my first couple of grows i used a saucepan, and it worked fine. then i got me a ?25 Argos Tower-brand pressurecooker. i only use the microwave now to sterilise casing mixture, and for cooking food in - versalite, eh!

You must have noticed(or overlooked), that this technique is in the section Questionable Techniques "Documents that describe techniques that either don?t work(reliably or at all) or are risky to perform. They are here for historical reasons mainly, use your head before using the directions contained within the following documents. "

Thanks for the help guys.
You said that you used a saucepan? Didn't it need no lid? I'm thinking about boiling them on the stove in a milkpan or something... What do you guys think?
