Moving them is generally fine if they have a good filter, polyfill is not the best filter, so if anything does happen when you move the jars, it's going to be because of that.

If you'd done research on this you'd know you're supposed to shake them twice, once at 20%, and again when they're fully colonized.. so.... wrap your head around doing that without having moved them.

throw the jars in a plastic tub while you bring them upstairs

That might be overkill, like I said, he's gonna HAVE to shake those at one point, and they won't be in a tub then.  Either the filter is gonna fail or it's not, it probably won't.

Uh what? Just move them. Why would they get contaminated from being moved?

Because poly isn't really protective like an sfd.  The vector for contamination is the wind blowing over it and blowing a contaminate in.  I think it'd be fine but better safe than sorry.  Poly just sketches me out tbh.

I have a similar situation. Not regarding moving them, but the polyfil filter.
I had no Tyvek and omitted it. 3 jars I used a coffee filter with the lid over it and polyfil stuffed in. The others I used nothing.

Since then I have shook the jars. Obviously the grains touched the inside of the polyfil.

I imagine others have done this before also, what was the result?

This was 3 days ago and they show no contams so far.

One jar got the mean green 3 days after inoculation. I have a sneaking suspicion I didnt actually PC that one, as I had 7 jars and my PC only fit 3. I don't remember if I ran it 3 cycles but I think I only ran it twice.
