Inappropriate ID Request

Hey, I know this is a bit inappropriate since it's not actually a mushroom ID request, it's just that I found this wasp yesterday night near my house and was a bit intrigued by it's huge size, at least for what we normally have here. I think that some members might be able to help or know this species.
I looked for similar characteristics on the net and got to Campsomeris quadrimaculata which is a bit strange because most sources I find locate them on Northern America, more specifically Florida region, which would make it a bit odd to be finding them in Europe.
It's abdomen has almost 1 inch and it has distinctive yellow dots, it also had dark orange marks on the front of it's head, here are some pics:

Any help would be great, and again sorry for the misplaced ID request.

I don't know that species but looking at pictures it seems very likely you're right.
You should perhaps contact local entomologists for further inquiries on this, they might be excited! Maybe insects like this might get imported with fruits or flowers as they feed on nectar? Or maybe it happened to board some ship crossing the Atlantic?
Nice find in any case!

I'll probably check if someone can help at the University.
You're probably right it could have travelled accidentally although I don't know the average life expectancy for a wasp.
I also found a Mammoth wasp on the internet, which occurs in Europe but doesn't look exactly as fit as the first on account of the bright yellow around their heads.

You could try bugguide, they will frass it for being out of range, but they might tell you what it is before that if they can.
