Why did my shrooms lose so much weight after drying?
    #21799034 - 06/12/15 06:44 PM (8 years, 7 months ago)

I read that wet mushrooms were only ten times heavier than dry ones. Well, I just weighed a mushroom that weighed 15 grams wet and it weighed only 1 gram dry and it's not even completely dry yet. Does the ratio vary?

I might trip tomorrow, how should I judge the dosage? Should I take wet or dry? I've both available. Which is better?

yes, the ratio varies with cultivation technique;
(i.e. if you picked a water-logged shroom, then yeah, it'll be more "wet")

try to fully dose dry, but if you don't have enough dry to fulfill a dry-dose, then top it off with freshies...and then a little extra if you're feeling frisky :wink:

I find wet shrooms are easier for my stomach to handle. But the actives don't break down until around the 175C mark, so there are numerous ways to cook/prepare dry or wet mushies without having to taste them or lose potency :thumbup:

a 15 gram shrooms drying up to 1 gram is not that unreasonable.  I've had some shrooms that were only 80% water.  Denser fruits dry heavier.  Hollow fruits seem to dry lighter.

Judge the dose like you would any cubensis.

3.5g dry

35g wet

That is if you're aiming for a  1/8th... which is plenty for me at 170lbs.
