Going exploring

Hi guys. Me and my girl are gonna go on an all day trip into the wood this weekend I'm just gonna bring food and a knife there's alot of wildlife out here In Canada especially deer. Alot of fungus and interesting plants around should be fun if we don't get eaten alive by bugs haha should I bring anyhing else I highly doubt we will get lost but stranger things have happend

Bring plenty of drinking water along with a compass and map. Learn how to use them. I'd also recommend a small (15 mL) container of unscented household bleach and two Bic lighters. Four drops of bleach per liter of questionable water will make it safe to drink after a half hour. Giardia might be resistant to bleach treatment, but it's much better than nothing. If you're worried about possibly getting lost, water treatment and a firestarter could save your life.

This is crucial advise to staying safe.
Navigation, sanitary drinking water, fire, a knife, and food are the most basic items.
I also would suggest a good sleeping bag and "protection" if venturing into the woods with a lover

Bring some sort of light or a lantern. You can usually score pretty cheap headlamps at hardware stores.
