My foaf just cased my first cake and its starting to have whtie shit spread throughout the top of the verm.....my question is how do you tell the difference between cobweb mold and natural myc??? Please help! Thanks.
Cobweb is more wispy, thread-like. It can coalesce into fuzzy patches, but invariably is not as dense as mycelium. Growth just over the top surface is not a good sign; mycelium [and sometimes contams, but not cobweb, IME] grow from below the top surface. 'bottom--->up" vs "laterally". Don't know if that addresses your issue, but there are some ?nice? photos of cobweb on this site.
