Can't think of anything that wouldn't be really painful. If you have a couple of weeks I think you can wear them away by, say, playing a guitar with metal strings 8 hour a day.

That really wouldn't work. Sure you would be able to burn off your fingerprints, but left in their place would be burns that would identifiy you just as easily as fingerprints.

Fingerprints don't have to be that fucked up in order to be useless, buy an inkpad an experiment - try rubbing your fingers in various resins, waxes and glues - just a thin film partially covering a print should be enough to make it unsuitable for identifying you. Also it helps if you've got the shakes when your prints are taken, as even it's they are very slightly smudged their usefulness decreases dramaticlly.

The best I have find is super glue... just don't glue your fingers together. The stuff fills all the little grooves that create your fingerprint and leaves a nice smooth surface. It usually lasts a day or two and is not easily removed. If anybody says anything, claim that you like to put together models or something similiar.

I'd have to go with Seuss
If you burn your fingerprints off, then a few weeks later someone comes looking for you, your burns may still be there.
Use some kind of clear adhesive that you can pull off directly afterwards.

This may work. What you need: Clear Caulk Clean Cookie Sheet Butter superglue Find someone who will never get into trouble and use their print.
Apply butter to the edge of a cookie sheet. On top of that drop a thin layer of silicone and spread relatively evenly. Have the person make a print (lightly) into the silicone. Allow to dry. Carefully pull the print off the cookie sheet and wipe off residual butter. Cut it to the desired length. Next apply superglue to your finger then your new print.
I dont know if this would work but it may be worth a try if your really hard up.

Strangely enough, I was talking about this very subject with a friend. It seems that concrete workers loose their fingerprints because of the mild acid found in uncured concrete. Perhaps some other weak acid would work as well? Vinegar (Acetic acid) perhaps.... Hope that helps!

CMIIW, but ive heard that originally super glue was intended for just that, "liquid skin". Or It might have been something they just used in one of the wars because it was readily available and worked. Something like that anyway, I guess I'll have to search around the internet and find out...

Its quite hard to apply that stuff thickly, plus it has a tendancy to peel off. Are you planning on sending in 10 inky smooth splodges?

For those of you who don't know the US is now taking fingerprints of people visiting the US. If you're not from one of 28 countries that are exempt, mainly European countries, Japan and Australia. Then you're getting a print. Its not being done all over yet, but the people over at the great ole "Homeland Security" offices have said that 90% of all airports, seaports and borders will be equiped with photography and fingerprint capabilities by the end of next year.

I don't mean to be rude, but if you haven't heard about this then you really need to read a newspaper a bit more:) This made the national news for the past few days.
Oh, and OTHER countries are starting to do the same thing.
