Fruiting during colonozation
    #21794182 - 06/11/15 06:01 PM (8 years, 7 months ago)

First grow, 3rd attempt.

I have contaminations in all of the jars so this batch is done, but after 5 weeks in they started to fruit during colonization.  I have narrowed my mistakes down to and/or; packing the jars too tight (Is it ok that after PC the jars settle leaving a half inch of open space?  What is the most amount of open space allowed)?, or I only flamed every 3rd jar (although they all became contaminated so I doubt thats the reason).

The temperature has stayed between 72-83 in an open closet on the top self.

The jars all all wet with condensation.

I am going to post more pictures with some more questions below.......

Why are they beginning to fruit early?  And can these be dried and eaten?

These are 1/4 pint jars that have been sitting for 5 weeks.  There are contaminations that can be seen.  Are these ready for fruiting?

Where is the contam?

The dry verm barrier isn't supposed to be colonized. It looks fully colonized except for the verm barrier.

This is the 4th attempt...about 4 weeks in, still first grow.

Contamination is beginning on the bottom of the jars and condensation appears to be building up.

Why is this so hard?!?!?!....I am building a book of fails!

use the right sized jars.

those tall ones tend to compact and stall out at the bottom. especially if you handle them alot.

fruit those short 1/2 pints and the ones fruiting.

i find grains were easier than brf.

How are you sterilizing the jars?

There is also the possibility that you have a contaminated syringe? Did you get them from a reliable vendor?  Do you see the same contamination in every jar or does it vary?

It is the source of a flying bird of prey and the part of the body it sees with and I flamed sterilized every 3rd jar.  They all have the same contamination forming and have condensation built up around the jars.

PC for 5 hours and then let sit over night, done with a glove box and then foil was left off and placed on a top shelf in an open closet.

I did pack the jars a little bit. (in a previous fail the jars all settled and left almost an in of open space.

I am going to switch to the short 1/2 pint jars before I give it another go.

No I dont think so.  I place 4 jars on the bottom and then a pan with holes on top and then put the knocked up jars on top of those.
