Pre making bags
    #21792304 - 06/11/15 09:29 AM (8 years, 7 months ago)

Of course we want to give our mycelium as much of a head start as possible but do you see any real harm in cooking up a few bags and sealing them for 4-5 days until ready for use?

I really don't. If they're going to go bad they're going to go bad. With the exception of them drying out I don't see why I cant PC today and inoculate in a few do you?

No problem there at all so long as it was properly sterilized.

I don't see any problems either, for I have done the same with rye jars and left for vay cay for a week. Once I got back I inoculated and they colonized and fruited fine.

True. I plan to do a control bag now that I've switched grains to ensure I'm still getting sterilization

Sounds interesting...

I've been wanting to try bags out sometime.

If you are pre-making them wouldn't they have to be sealed to keep them sterile until ready for use?

Or do they have a filter patch on them?

Just curious... I don't know much about bags as I haven't tried them out yet.

They have a filter but you still have to seal them with ties or an impulse sealer. I'll just seal very close to the top of the bag so when I reseal I'll still have plenty of plenum space
