Panaeolus cinctulus? or something close?

Panaeolus cinctulus, I believe. Kinda petite....black print, long twisting stipe. Found in well kept grass... Opinions?

Ha, I found these at a customers house. I went to clean her pool filter, found these while doing so, then she tipped me five bucks :-)
And this is how I dried them...
that's a water test strip bottle, cut in half, wedged into the defroster vent on the dash of my work truck. I just threw em up there and by the time I finished work, they were almost completely dry! ;-)

Well, I know it's an active Panaeolus species and I didn't do a print because of the surrounding grass blades being covered in jet black spores I was just curious if anyone had a better suggestion than P.cinctulus. I appreciate the input tho, kactus

Eat these ones fresh. You are going to risk losing anything active if you dry it.

That wouldn't be enough to do anything I was just planning on adding them to the collection. ... I might need a scope to get down to a species. But that's why I was asking

Unless you dry them on a high heat, the "activeness" of the fruits shouldn't be affected....

i'm sure someone will correct me if i'm wrong, but i think you have bad information if you believe drying pan species is any different than any other species.
in fact, due to the relative lack of psilocin, they don't blue much at all so pans may lose less on drying than other species, but admittedly, you're always going to lose a bit

Im sure you are correct. I have been thinking about my theory for a while now. I truly believe a high ground Ph level stunts or effects the active chemical production. My area is saturated with high Ph from the local trees. I recently was told much of our well water thats not potable, and for watering fields is contaminated with arsenic. Not yay.

not trying to be a dick but just challenging your thinking and curious as to what leads you to your theory. it could have basis in fact, i assume, but which facts? personal experience? anecdotal stories? structured experiment? biochem course?
that the trees whispered it to you probably won't hold a lot of weight for example.

Panaeolus bisporus is what I would guess going with just the macroscopic characteristics. Send them to someone who will scope them.

I have all the specimens dried, if anyone wants to try and scope em for species. I appreciate the input, everyone!

hmm well that is an 1985 paper using a 1965 paper as the reference in that case. not that facts get old and moldy or anything. as such.
its not clear to me, not being able to access the 1965 portion whether they mean it won't grow at all, or it showed it didn't make any psilicybin when ph is below 7 or around pines as you surmised extrapolating that #3 thingy.
i suspect, that since some actives (like the AU/NZ ones) are found under pines that this is not the case.
nothin wrong with running with ideas like that one. thanks for explaining, and for the link
now, why people muck around extracting the crap, thats a whole nuther question that i really can't answer.
