Recolonizing bulk substrate?
    #21790913 - 06/10/15 11:12 PM (8 years, 7 months ago)

So 12 days ago I spawned a mono tub with a 1: 2 ratio. Unfortunately I used to much water in the substrate and spawned it anyway. I would have fixed this, but because of some circumstances, I didn't have time to fix the water content. Well now it's around 70% colonized and I don't think it is going to colonize 100% in the next two days.

So my question is should I leave the substrate and let it colonize in however long it takes? (I'm afraid of contamination if I do leave it too finish.) Or should I treat this like a giant jar of colonized grain and just break up and mix the substrate again, but add dry pasteurized verm to fix the water content? Then that way it can just recolonize and be fine and dandy again haha.

Don't break it up. Let it do its thing.

What about contamination? Kinda worried if it takes too long it might go green or something?

let it do its thing; if it contaminates, then it would contaminate if you crunched it up and added verm to it

if it contaminates, then it's already contaminated...

at this point, you spawned it (open air), there are contaminates in it. are they contaminating?

no telling. it's "too wet" or there's bacteria...let it do its thing, don't wast time spawning pasturized dry verm to it (in open air) and then waiting for it to recover, during that time there's no telling what could get a foot hold and sloodge allover your sub

EDIT:

i meant "sploodge"
