Habitat: Uncut lawn grass, south Florida
Gills: The gills are really black and I don't think they are attached to the stem
Stem: It's about 4 inches long and it's hollow, it's really thin and it's dark brown almost black
Cap: The cap is about an inch in diameter and I think it's conical. It's brown greyish
Spore print color:it's really black
Bruising: Didn't notice any bruising
Other information: Smells like a regular mushroom

I have been studying live specimens of this species recently and based on your pictures and description I agree
Panaeolus cinctulus

With that long, thin stem I would consider Panaeolus acuminatus as well. You'll need a microscope to know with any accuracy exactly which species it is.
About 5 dried grams and up for active, lawn dwelling Panaeolus.

I know I should have put or another active panaeolus, but all of the others are so uncommon.

Let's have a look at this batch you've found, I'd like to have a gander if you don't mind.Quote:

Are they that uncommon? Nobody ever looks at them under the microscope, so we how could we know?
