1 beer...ONLY 1

My fiance is a tad worried. Sincé my new Job at a brewery....i have been drinking beer everyday. 2 Beers to be exact. When you go home covered in High quality crafty brew its hard NOT to want a beer.
dont get it confused, i have 2 beers...I dont get sloppy, I dont get hung over, I barley (get it ) act any differnt aside from a few extra giggled.
However her question to me is..."so can you drink 1 beer and be fine?"
my responde is I would rather not drink at all. 1 12 oz beer simply leaves me wanting more. If know I can only have 1 beer....i would rather not drink at all! Which is fine as well.
who the hell only wants 1 beer. There is a reason craft brew is sold in 6 packs and 22 oz beers

If it's not affecting your job and your not getting sloppy drunk I think your wife is being kind of a bitch.

Those containers they put that beer in is only a suggestion. The stomach is where the real measuring happens.

Ok ok I this is a two parter here. First ifs shes worried and you even are concerned that your drinking 2 beers it sounds like its already become aproblem so idk whats going on maybe its past stuff. If i worked at a brewwery id prob drink a ton of the beers jus to get to no the flavors.
ok second part was maybe someone could answer this ok like i was wondering like what the highest alcohol content a beer could be in the us? Im thinking surely at some point it cant be labeled beer and has to be called like barely wine or some other shit.

I drink 8.1% gut rot beer. But I'm thinking that I've drinking a 12% craft beer before but I may be wrong.

It all has to do with the type yeast you use and the amount of fementable sugars you start with. Some yeast die off at pretty low alcohol lvls some can tolerate high alcohol lvls. There is deffinitly a limit but I dont know what it is.

Ever notice those beers are as expensive if not more expensive than the traditional 6pack ones? That probably has more to do with it than anything.

It is badass. Its like working in a laboratory. Im a cellerman in training. I have only been there a few weeks but they love me and I work my ass off. Soon they will be teaching me how to clean, and brew with all the equipment. Im reading a book on brewing and it says 75% of good brewing is cleaning....its true. There is lots of cleaning and chemicals. I have to treat the pipes and lines leading to machines with different washes and sanitizers to make sure everything is good to go. Its hard work and lots of temperature extremes. Working in the bottling area is like being in the tropics....its humid as hell. It gets into the 100's and the entire brew area is one giant, wet drain that creates a ton of humidity by all the heat. Its cool though because you can throw any liquids on the ground, anywhere. Then working in the chillers is cold as hell, and you can be in there for a while.
For the smart ass comment surrounding the grunt work, everyone does grunt work, even the head brewer. Only one who DOESNT is the master brewer who sits in his office all day, but hes thinking of all the technical shit. Does a damn good job to. Had us do a project that re hooked up all the piping and tubing.
Its fun man, but hard work....my fiance already says she can feel my muscles getting bigger. I think I have an idea of what I want to do with my life, profession wise

For American styles ~8% is generally where a beer will be called "Imperial" pale/red/brown/stout, strong ale, or barleywine, but there are of course exceptions. Most breweries have gone to 4 packs for beers this strong, but you can still get strong six packs and even 12's by some breweries. Lagunuitas with several 8-10% (and ~$10) sixes across the country; Founder's with their year-round "Dirty Bastard" Scotch ale at 8.5%, and Bell's with several 8-11% in the Midwest and East; several Southern Tier's in the East and some Midwest. See the respective websites or seekabrew.com for availability info.a

Forgot to mention, as strongest relatively easy to acquire beer, it depends on what area of the country you're in. The strongest widely available beer is probably Dogfish Head's World Wide Stout and 120 Minute IPA at 15-20% (And $15-20/4-pack). If you're on the West Coast, you've got various Bruery releases at 15-20% (and $20-30/750ml). Also out West, with some Midwest and South availability are various Avery stouts at 15-20%. Many of those are spirit barrel-aged, but at least one isn't.
Unfortunately there aren't many widely released 13%+ barleywines/strong ales. Some of the most available are Stone's Old Guardian at 11% (2015 out and very easy to find, see find.stonebrewing.com ), Sierra Nevada Bigfoot at 9.5% (2015 also out and very available, see sierranevada.com), Lagunitas Gnarlywine at 11% (out as well, unfortunately no beer finder), and as a much paler option, Founders Curmudgeon at 9.5% (See foundersbrewing.com). Their year round six pack "Dirty Bastard" Scotch ale mentioned earlier is great too though, basically a bigger brown ale/ malt-bomb of a barleywine/strong, and rich but sweet. Lots of caramel and toffee flavors.
