Really, really slow casing colonization

Hi all, I managed to successfully colonize 7/10 of my psilocybe subaeruginosa jars, using the PFTek method. It was my first time, and a slow process, much slower than anticipated (about 2 months), but it got there with 100% colonized jars. I experimented dunking and rolling (verm) one of the cakes, and made 3 verm casings out of the other 6 cakes. After about a month of waiting for action with the casings, all I have is a few mycealeum spots on 2 casings, and none on the other. I'm wondering what I should do with the casings. They seem to have 'stopped' and I'm not sure if they're going to colonize the casing layer. Any advice would be appreciated or should I just keep waiting? Given how long the initial colonization took, I'm not so surprised by the length of time it's all taking, but am starting to wonder what's going on.. Also..the dunked cake has been in a perlite terrarium now for over a week and is exhibiting either white fuzz or (hopefully not) cobweb mould. I would have expected pins here, but I'm not sure... thanks!

Ps. Subaeruginosa is a woodloving, cold weather mushroom. I think your best luck would be to break up your casing and spawn it to woodchips. I don't believe anyone has gotten a woodlover to fruit off of BRF or even grain for that matter. I think you will also appreciate how much less time it will take on woodchips. The temps will also need to reduced significantly compared to Cubes and air exchange needs to be higher.
Peace - @cro

Temperature has ranged between 19-25 degrees celcius.
Spawn to woodchips eh? Getting complex for a first timer! I will obviously research this, but if you can point be to a good tek I'd be very thankful.

you need to get some cubensis spores...subs are extreamly difficult to cultivate artificialy. spawning to wood chips and making an outdoor patch may provide fruits in autum/winter.

25 C is way too high for those, I'd recommend from 5-8 C. I'll see if I can find ya a grow log but the search isn't workin right now. These are a bit more advanced than a first grow project but hey, if you had those jars for 2 months w/out a contam, you can probably get it. The easiest way is to do an outdoor grow if you live in an area hospitable for these.

Here's a couple logs of species with the same growth parameters as yours but I think they are both outdoor logs. http://www.nansnook.com/archives/48.html http://www.magic-mushrooms.net/growing-psilocybe-azurescens.pdf

Thanks for the tips guys. Given the advanced state of the myceleum, would I still need to sterilise the wood chips?
cheers!

my guess is no, but sterelizing _never_ hurts.

Cool, yeah as always...
Um, well, looks like I'm off to find some woodchips. I guess I'm going to try and simulate and autumn environment and seeing it's about as far from autumn as you can get here I'll try growing these in a terarrium. Any tips for humidity then? Aim for around 80-90 with lots of air exchange?

If done indoors, definately. If outdoors, it wouldn't be needed but would be beneficial for eliminating competetive fungus.
