Flowhoods are awesome. There is no argument from me on that point.

But there is another option for poor ass cultivators like myself for getting a HEPA clean environment to work in. So I push it because, despite it's ridiculous appearance, it works.

Please don't think I criticize the efficiency and freedom of having the real deal.

I've always wanted a shmuv but I just can't justify cramming any more cultivation stuff in this 1br apt when I barely even have time to even use it :frown:

I use a hepa to clean the air in my sterile work area but shmuv boxes look like a pain in the ass to work with. Also I do a lot of spur of the moment sterile work. I like not having to prep anything first. I just throw on some gloves and get to work.

Same way.  Trick with the flowhood on days when feeling spontaneous is to start the hood when you first wake up, and leave it running all day.

@Grey
I thought about making a hood too, I can be handy I saw a tek somewhere on how to make one, I glanced at it and thought, That looks pretty simple... A thought just occurred to me, I wonder if set it up so the fan can reverse and suck as well as blow. I could have two machines in one, one that blows sterile air and one that sucks up soldering fumes.. but now.. thinking about it a little more.. the filter may become dirty from sucking up those fumes and then transfer those contaminants when I switch the fan to blow...
Either way I thought it would be a fun project and would definitely come in handy at some point.

My first round of clones are going into a grain jars this afternoon.

Thanks Pastywhyte for helping me get my feet wet with agar!

There was an older member on here that had free hood plans in their Sig. I downloaded them to my old phone, but I don't know if it'll turn on anymore. I'll look for them again.

This is the flow hood guide I followed. Well detailed and takes you through the process of matching a filter and blower.

Also I never get a "bad batch" of the screw-top ones, at least not with zip-locs or the most similar generics (the purple/blue lid kind they re-label for different marts)

I'll add, screw-top containers don't need lid modifications!

Wait a second, do you mean the holes in the top? Because I put the holes in mine anyways, is the point to relieve pressure, but the screw tops make it not neccesary??

You can adjust the screw top to allow gas exchange without introducing contaminates. By the way it's great seeing you getting involved in agar work.

Thanks man!

so here's a question. If i can just loosen the tops, can i put in a self healing injection port, so i dont have to open it at all to inoculate it?? >>genious?<<

I also did them correctly the first time. consistency and the PC had no issues keeping temp, at all. i did a test run and figured it out the FIRST TIME

I would suggest using High temp RTV silicone. You can find it at autoparts stores sold as gasket maker.

392 short term
350 long term

I vbring it up to speed on 6/7 on my stove.. it stays at 15psi @ between 3 and 4.. resistant up to 350PSI... i feel the temps may still be too low, and i'd have to change it
