Two year old spore swab: Whats my best option for revival?

I've only got one chance, two spore laden swabs in a single sterile package.
I was planning to go straight to agar with it, but now I'm thinking letting them soak in water for a day or two would probably have a higher chance of success.
Whatchya think, is a making a spore syringe my best option?

You can go whichever route you want, but I would personally just make a batch of agar on the wet side and inoculate a bunch of plates and wait. You can hydrate those spores via syringe, but ultimately they'll end up on agar anyway so making it on the moist side just negates the syringe step in my opinion.

Make a syringe with one agar with the other. More wet agar helps too or less stiff whichever way you look at it

I should have just said higher water to agar ratio or something. "Moist" just popped in my head for some reason.

thanks to the both of you. I wouldn't have thought to alter the agar mix.
Does it merely have a higher moisture content or does it alter the texture/consistency?

it's less stiff. with less agar or more water. 1.5-2% is the usual range. I would maybe try 13-15g/L

If you bought commercially prepared agar, it will have the mixture ratio printed on the label which gives you an industry standard consistency of sorts. The amount of moisture noticable to you depends on your experience with agar and the amount of water you use. Obviously, too much water will be counterproductive and too little would be counter intuitive. Just use common sense/trial and error and you'll be fine. Use the search function and try to find some people who have done this. I'm sure they're out there.
