Making simple music video using audio visualizer

I am coming to you as someone who is 95% audio focused, and so know very minimal about video.
I am wanting software or process that would allow me to put a piece of music into it, and have it generate visuals (maybe in a controlled fashion) that I am able to record and export as video file.
I tried out a couple modular video FX softwares that ended up being super deep and above my head.
One thought I had would be to run it through Winamp's Mildrop and then screen capture somehow, but I do not have any screen capture software either.
Any tips/advice is super helpful

Yeah I think you would lose some visual fidelity by doing a screen-cap type recording, but it wouldn't be such a big deal and as long as you synced it with the mp3 after recording that video the sound shouldn't be effected. I've actually been looking for a good vid-cap software myself, so if you find something let me know.
Here is one with what I believe is a free 30 day trial that can render such things, and export them as movies. That would be ideal if you are a stickler for quality, but it looks fairly heavy with all sorts of modules an such. https://magicmusicvisuals.com/documentation check out the manual and see if that looks doable.
I mean there are tons of free visualizations, but something that will export it as an avi/mpeg without smacking their logo on there for free seems to be hard to find.

Ah yeah, I checked out that and http://www.vsxu.com/. The both looked super capable of doing what I want, but would take just as long to program the visuals as it would to make the track , and learning a new program from scratch on top of it.
I may just be fantasizing.
Good point on loosing fidelity with screen capture, I had not thought of that aspect.
Hmmmm, stuff to think about
