Hey guys could anyone give me some advice on using underbed (shallow) tubs to run the bulk substrate rye berry method?

Are you trying to hide this from somebody? I cant see any other reason to not use a normal size tub, or run mini monos.
Im not sure what sort of advice you are looking for, it would essentially be the same as a regular size mono. You can flip another tub upside down on top of it (search dubtub). Its going to have to be tall enough for your mushrooms or else itll be messy

Basically im trying to shelve the more shallow totes into an enclosed shelving unit. Im just trying to figure out if it would work, if that set up gives enough room for shrooms to pop up, or should i go for an environment where I dont need the lid?

Well what are you enclosing them for then? There are other factors, most importantly the FAE, too tight an enclosure can be a problem.

You might consider using the shotgun style aluminum pans with plastic lids (swimmingfast tek). The ones from dollartree do the trick, poke holes @ 2in spacing in the lid with a soldering iron. Typically 6" will be a good ammount of clearance, though you can get by with as little as 2-3" depending on the characteristics of what you are growing. Using such a low clearance has not been an issue for me yet. Misting the pan lids once a day is sufficient in 50% RH. Each dollartree pan holds about 2.5-3qts of material. Other types from different stores may hold more, but usually are quite overpriced ~2-3$/unit.
Shotgun tubs may be preferable for flatter containers. I'm not sure the regular monotub dynamic will function, especially with half of the tub blocked from most airflow tucked away in the back of the shelving unit.

I spawned some popcorn casings and had double-overlay cause I didn't put enough hydrogen peroxide in my automated aquarium mister. I only got one mushroom so I cut off the head part where the seeds fall from and put it in a jar of LC and sprayed it all over a tin of PF cakes I made with gravel, cardboard, and bisquick in my microwave. I think it will be good cause B+ is so potent. Triggered yet? Only a square would say "a cube is a cube."
No, this does not look right...

I know I need to use the larger tubs. Im actually used to doing that, but Im starting a new project with space issues. I am basically stuck using bins that are 7 inches tall. The bins hold a lot of surface area. I figured I could make a 2 inch substrate and be ok. I could drill holes, and use a fan with hepa filter for airflow, in an enclosed shelving unit.
