He highlighted "Deprivation tanks have been a disappointment" Implying they're the bomb dope shit. I don't believe the hype either. The bold is really fucking hard to see on this website and almost useless tbh so I can see why you thought he only bolded Dep Tanks

The vertical tanks are IMO better for meditation. A vertical spine is a key element to alert attention. Where horizontal is better for physical recuperation, and able to enter into Delta. The guy I have been floating with in the vertical tanks has floated more than any other human, alive or dead. More than the people who started the first float brand. (Glenn and Lee Perry, of which whom I will be interviewing in a podcast in T- 15 minutes )
I can last WAY longer in a vertical tank. Whereas I have floated 3 hours or so horizontally, I floated for over 6 vertically.
Yes it is a ghetto "blind fold", we call them mindfolds. blacked out ski masks actually work best because they are comfortable and allow space for your eyelashes to freely move.
Also, nodding in a tank is also not a good idea. one of the two instances of deaths while floating was opiate related.
minor MXE doses has proven pretty lovely though.

He's floated more than that nigga named Crash or whatever? That dude's famous as shit and his tanks are top of the line.. I gotta imagine he's floated more..
I don't think those deaths are completely the opiates fault, you gotta be retarded to drown in the like, 6-12 inches of water in most tanks. But yeah I guess it's still a pretty bad Idea, I'd imagine it would feel amazing though.
See I don't like to have Alert Attention when I float, I like to calm my mind, and let any thoughts and Idea's flow in naturally. I don't use the tank to like, Focus on shit, but I know you use the tanks for music so having an alert attention would be good so you can focus on musical thoughts. I like to just let my mind visuals and think about whatever comes to mind. Usually I start to visualize celestial bodies as I slowly float through them like my own lazy river through the universe.
But Tomato, Potato, as they say Also don't float on empty stomach, or full stomach, or anything that can potentially take away from your float for noobs.

Oh yeah, way more than Crash. Chris floats literally every day, built his first tank in 1976 and has been floating (almost) daily since then. Crash, what a guy, whenever someone has brought up that name it is always followed by how crazy he is, or controversy of some sort, a big argument broke out last conference we had because he was trying to make standards for the whole industry himself without regard to any other opinion.
I'm def not hating on horizontal conventional tanks, I have been working for a float center for 4 years. they are all great, all shapes and sizes.

Seems to be very very very dependent on personal preference because of how intimate and personal a float is.

Most definitely. Some people will only float if there is a light to turn on, or a way to know where they are. Some people like the cocoon/womb feeling and dislike openness.

Focus on the space between thoughts. Or the space between you and an object in the room. Or if you hear a sound, focus on the space between that sound and the next one.
It's all about the space between imo

Yeah I don't think being claustrophobic would matter, maybe at first but once you settle in you don't know you're in a small tank. You'll be wherever your mind takes you.

OP said: I'm claustrophobic
Then meditate and just watch your feelings and thoughts and you'll see that the claustrophobia will start to become smaller and smaller, and then, it will be gone!
Of course you need to, be gentle. If you get a panic attack (or similar) go easier on yourself. Don't shut yourself in or shut the hatch for a short time, you know day 1: 1 second, day 2: 2 seconds, day 3: 5 seconds, and work yourself up.
However, you might not wanna focus on claustrophobia right now, maybe you should just get some nice guided meditation that gets you to relax. (Given your situation - I read about your situation in the other thread.)
Good luck.
Kind regards Johnny

The key is no key. It is non-technique.
Recognize the natural silence of your own Self. Silence is not a behavior. Silence is not a practice. It is the natural perfume of being. Trying to be still is not stillness. Find that stillness inside, which simply Is. There is no one to practice it. It can only be recognized. It is here. It is not hiding. It is not hurried. Simply stop identifying with the past, future, present or with any self image. Be open to being nothing. No thing. So that internally you are simply like a space. But this is not an inert space, but a space full of aliveness. Still don't define yourself as aliveness. Don't define yourself at all. Simply remain in natural self-awareness.
You'd be a great instructor, very well put.

I do. Just start with relaxation if you are new to it, then focus on your breath. Don't let thoughts carry you away, keep coming back to the breath.

I don't meditate. I think a lot though. That's what I consider to be meditation.
