Damaging mycelium

So lately it has been brought up that many may have bacterial spawn that is not readily seeable and that it may weaken mycelium and allow mold to germinate and take hold.
My question is: is it possible that the act of breaking up grains can damage mycelium enough if you have a high ambient spore load in your home to allow a competitor mold to take hold on already colonized grain?

From what I've seen with people wacking their rye jars into bike tires or rolls of duct tape, mycelium recovers quite quickly. If you keep breaking it up inside the jars until it's fully colonized, I would imagine getting a contamination would be pretty hard.

Once its recovered I agree. But when you break it up to spawn it you damage it pretty good. Wonder if this small window would be enough with a large spore count for anything sinister to be able to take hold.

I notice my oats look kinda off after the first G2G but then they recover with a light fuzzy mycelium. I can only assume that the grains have already been fully colonized to the point that if any contamination would sneek it's way onto an uncolonized grain (ex: side grains) it would simply be outsourced by the recovering mycelium. But that's just my assumption. I still gotta spend more time studying.

No. When you shake it the mycelium is already pretty resistant to contam.
If it were true then breaking up your spawn when spawning to bulk would do the same thing, bacteria would get all in there. But it doesn't.

I ask because when picking fruits and damaging mycelium many times mold will take hold directly on the damaged area.

I personally haven't noticed that, but then again I don't look too closely at mold unless its the kind I want
