You cut clean mycelium away from contamination and transfer to new dish.

the yellow around the edges is bacteria and I cut from where it is still clean. I transfered to a new dish and it's 100% clean with no bacteria.

so whats your advice on the SAB? is widely viewed as the best tek for the job but it still seems too risky to take my arms out to flame the syringe or blade and then wait for 30 seconds while the air settles with my tool exposed.

If you are using poly or silicon injection you don't need to use a SAB at all, it just helps. You can flame sterilize in the SAB even though some might say that's making a mockery out of the still air. It's still an airspace that has been flushed of contams by lysol, and is bound to be a lot cleaner than what's in your kitchen, on the off chance a contam lands on your needle after you flame it. I flame in my SAB since I feel the ruckus of going in and out would cause more disruption than using a lighter, and disruption with the outside air, not the cleaner interior air.
Chances are, your contam source is the grain itself or your spore syringe.
Again, I recommend making some 1/8c grain test dishes. Spore solution is a pretty poor inoculation method for a quantity of grain as large as a quard jar in my opinion, and works much better on PF size or smaller quantities of grain.

I spawned some popcorn casings and had double-overlay cause I didn't put enough hydrogen peroxide in my automated aquarium mister. I only got one mushroom so I cut off the head part where the seeds fall from and put it in a jar of LC and sprayed it all over a tin of PF cakes I made with gravel, cardboard, and bisquick in my microwave. I think it will be good cause B+ is so potent. Triggered yet? Only a square would say "a cube is a cube."
No, this does not look right...
