Key Lime grow from seed.

So,here are a couple few Key Lime seeds that I germinated.
Key Limes will actually grow true from seed, unlike other varieties of citrus.
One was polyembryonic, but I separated it,so I could have three separate plants.
Even if they didn't grow true to seed polyembryonic plants are exact clones of the parents,so it's a win win regardless
I'm so excited, because they can produce fruit from seed in as little as two years!
I'll update throughout there growing process, because I know once I get moved, they will really take off!!!

I have a baby that I rescued from the base of my dad's key lime.
How did you germinate your seeds. Step by step please. I have been trying lately and failing. The one I got from dad is doing well. Been growing in pure composted leaf.

I retrieved my seeds from the fruit, rinsed off any residual pulp, and let them dry for a few days.
I then planted them outside in my big Norfolk Island pine tree pot,and forgot about them.
You can't let them dry out,or they won't germinate, and I let that pot go dry several times
That's why I only got two sprouts out of about 20 or so seeds
It also took about three weeks for them to sprout,so you can't give up.
I also would think if I would have went about doing it the proper way, instead of the lazy mans way,I would have gotten more sprouts, and at a faster time frame.

I just took this pic of my Lemon bush from seed.
I would estimate it's four years old,but I prune all my plants to keep them small and compact,as I detest tall and lanky plants!

Polyembryonic seeds produce multiple embryos in a single seed.
One of mine had two plants in a single seed, and I separated them.

I hear you are not supposed to let the seeds dry out. But the nice little treeling I got should give me fruit sooner than 3 years. I say treeling because it's from a mature tree but it's not a seedling. I wonder how long before it gives me fruit.

Well, mine dried out for at least a week,so maybe that's another reason for my low germination rate too.
I think you'll get fruit way before three years, and I would say possibly by next season.

Yeah. I'm gonna transfer mine to a good soil and let it grow there for a while and then transplant to ground.

Yeah but get limes that are more slightly yellow. I found that these have fatter seeds.
