Poor genetics is why we don't clone from later flushes. The best genetics are in the first flush, and sometimes I'll clone from the second flush if desperate for materials. Any later flushes don't have ideal dna, so generally we don't clone from them.

With that said, you think tripping off mushies from Flush 1 vs Flush 4 effects would be different in terms of potency?

Because it will take a stupid long fuckin time to pin.
How long from spawning to bulk till you reach a 4th flush? That's how long you'll be waiting. Youre supposed to clone from 1st flush, hell people get bashed for cloning 2nd flush.
Its not my fault I laugh at funny shit people do/say.

Potency won't really differ at all. The reason we don't clone later flushes is what Buck513 is trying to say, the myc will take much longer to colonize and fruit because of poor genetics. You'd normally want the best genes for your babies

I don't think it's poor genetics, I think it's more of senescence. The mycelium is aging, and more prone to contams and also taking longer to fruit due t it being old.
Not that better genetics happen at first flush, just usually first flush is youngest.

Makes me wish I had grabbed a LC from this bad boy; It was the densest, most potent mushroom I've ever had. Was my first too.

Old genetics = Poor genetics, so, you've agreed with me. Senescence is the correct term for it, but it means the same thing. Younger genetics = better: because speed of colonization and resistance to contams. Old genetics = poor: because of slower colonization and susceptibility to contams. We agree lol

Are you taking a spore print in open air with your hands and other objects touching the foil?

At the time, yes, I was at least attempting to, but grew impatient and ate it the same night I picked it. Very first mushroom/grow. I think next time I attempt to take a print I'm going to flip a class upside down and cover it. Also, probably going to let it mature a bit longer.

Make sure the foil/cup is clean. No print is 100% clean, but you can save yourself a lot of time and frustration by being clean from the get go. I'm sure that print would be a pain to clean up on agar
