Hi all, first post so go easy on me, also my first grow so go even easier!
So I've made a fruiting chamber and just wanted to share it with you to get some feedback.
The chamber is fully opperated via my phone and cost £28 in total (thank you ebay!!!!)
There are 2 usb fans and 1 misting humidifier all attached to a 4 port usb thing, which in tern is connected to a usb wifi plug that I can turn on and off from my phone when im out the house. I have temp and humidity gauges mounted on the inside. Whole drilled at the top and bottom (bottom holes are slightly larger to tempt natural air flow).
I know its not ground breaking, and its probably shit lol, but I made it and it only cost £28
Just put my mycelium in there today so I'll let you know how it gets on... will probably be contaminated within an hour....
Peace

Normally I would just tell you to build a sgfc and rant about not reinventing the wheel but you may get a semi decent result from this.
Still build a sgfc though but good job piecing it all together.

Is there a lid, or is it just that clear? I don't see one in the pictures unless it's so transparent I can't see it. A FC should have some kind of lid on it, whether that's a plastic sheet or the actual lid from the container.
Also, do you have any polyfil for the holes? Generally you wouldn't want to have open holes in the tub, especially when the surface isn't fully colonized. You're just inviting contams in.
Otherwise, everything else looks great to me

Thanks maddchef, I'll look into sgfc's for my next grow
And yeah there is a lid that goes on it, just took it off to take pics. I haven't put polyfil in the holes, but I'll buy some online now and sort that out! Thanks for the advice!

i like the idea of being able to control it remotely!
if you got a camera in there too!!
might be good if you have a problem that needs tlc and watching over but you cant be there!
or going to a party and staying out the night before bed you can still check and adjust your babies, tuck them in at night lol
just need an auto mister too lol (EDIT crap you have )
im norm against this sort of thing but if one could get it to work right then in some situations it might come in handy lol
im gonna shut up and watch
edit: i wouldnt bother stuffing those tiny holes with polyfil, you be fine imo you are just fruiting in there arnt you? and colonising the trays seperate? if your colonising in there just tape the holes up while colonising

I chose nay. You want a high surface humidity. Everyone who knows anything about fruiting would agree. High surface humidity on monotubs are excellent because the bottom poly are holes stuffed tighter than a virgin. You'd want the bottom holes to be smaller, or a lot less holes. The substrate has enough moisture to provide the humidity (constantly evaporating to do that) and it has enough moisture to maintain it.
Perlite needs a draft from underneath to push the humidity up. It is ONLY used on a sgfc because of how it's elevated and the bottom side has holes. Unless you drilled holes under it and elevated it, that perlite is doing nothing. Besides your sub should be enough to provide humidity anyways.
A humidifier just increases humidity, lowering the amount of evaporation. You want hydration, not humidity. Hydration is done by keeping the surface glistening with misting. Sgfcs have so many holes, it's constantly losing the perlites humidity, meaning it can fluctuate down to 50% humidity at times depending on the rooms currents and temperature fluctuations. Promoting evaporation/pinning. Ideally you want around 85-95%.
Lastly, I wouldn't ever make an automated fruiting chamber unless I had put in at least 500$ in tools to test it, like a good hygrometer and a good co2 sensor. Even still I'd mist when needed. Cubes get their hydration from rain, not humidity. Id preferably have it on a timer and used the sensors to figure out when it should fan when co2 levels get high. This isn't an ideal chamber and a shotgun which is, is like 20$. And someone did all the expensive testing on it for us already.
