Hello everyone, I have a MsGrow (sadly no four inch+ GT fruits on tree tubs :-(. )
I am/did just try my first time agar.. I have premixed just add disstilled water powder..
I made up some.. Well three times.. First time I placed it in a bottle too tall for my Pc.. Second time I let it cool too long and gel'd...
Third! I poured five plates.
I cut samples from three different fruit bodies and placed one in each segment.
My only question, (I cant seem to find it.. Obviously ts been posted 50k times)
Where do I store this freshly wrapped Petri dosh at?
In consolidation conditions? 77 degrees no light?
.. Surely not in te fridge with the backup dishes :P
I place my unused already poured dishes in the fridge- right?

store them at room temperature. if you put them in the fridge, it'll slow down the growth too much.
storing un-used petri dishes in the fridge for long periods of time? not a good idea. you might be ok for a few days or a few weeks but they aren't meant for long term storage. they'll dry out after a while. just use whatever you pour. redundancy will save you some time when it comes to agar, especially cloning.

You can store pasty plates in the fridge for months if kept in a bag with the foil still on it.

As long as you wrap the petri dish with something like parafilm there will be no problem with drying out. Fridges can be gross though. You'll want to do at least 1 or 2 transfers before inoculating grain every time you remove it for a grow.

Just put the plate in a ziploc bag before you put it in the fridge. It will then be fine to remove and use. I keep grain masters in the fridge sometimes, just put a ziploc over the top to keep the sporeload off the filter.
