The problem with America being the "world's police" is that other major powers don't act because they assume we will assume the burden of responsibility and cost of intervention. Even when these powers have a far greater stake in the region than we do. Why would they dedicate the resources to cleaning up their own backyard when they think we will come do it for them? If Lindsey Graham was president and we used Extreme Military Force in every situation then we would not only be dangerously escalating towards Global War on many fronts, but we would also be shouldering the full cost of a tab which should be split amongst our many allies.
America cant fight terrorism alone, and we cant do it with a small coalition either. We need a global consensus, a global coalition.

>yea the black guy is to blame
No, black people are never to blame for anything. If he wants to keep wars going and start new ones, its because white people are prejudiced.
>Yeah soon Obama will be breaking kids in half on the white house steps and sucking out their vital goops with his barbed proboscis that Satan gave him
No kidding?
>I mean blacks got freed like 50 years ago
Lincoln is rolling over in his grave.

Its not our job, not our responsibility and we are committing war crimes in the name of fighting "terrorism" which seems to mean picking sides and making sure that side wins. And if it doesn't, then we keep on spinning our wheels for years and decades before finally pulling out. See Vietnam, Afghanistan, Iraq, ...

Pretty much. You guys are eager to use your military in order to justify its cost. So you know. Might as well help keep up the smokescreen

you know, on a related note, i've always thought it was funny that anyone without a permanent seat on the security council would agree to be a UN member. The UN is so obviously a tool to maintain the status quo in terms of sphere of influence for the winners of WW2. But seriously, as much as these Boko Haram guys seem like total douche-nozzles, its time for the U.S. to sit one out. Lets let the euros handle it for once. Maybe if we did that more often, we could afford cool shit here like socialized medicine, or high speed public transportation

running the world includes getting to decide what we give a fuck about. and we don't give a fuck about 200 tweens, it would seem. maybe a little more focused on the religious zealots filling the power vacuums in the middle east

You cant apply the rule of international law all willy nilly and still claim the moral highground of upholding it. Your either doing it for the greater good, which means youll help these tweens, or your meddeling and only furthering your own interests.

Everybody here acts like we make the decisions here. If you wanna know why the U.S. doesn't do anything in certain situations you need to talk to a politician (in private not public). And if you think the politicians really do what the general population thinks should be done, i have a bridge I'd like to sell you.
