In USA. Want OUT.
    #21774208 - 06/07/15 01:57 PM (8 years, 7 months ago)

I'm not in any trouble, I just don't like living in the USA.

It would be nice to get settled in another country without having to acquire a US passport.

Some places I'm interested in:
  • New Zealand
  • Northern Ireland
  • Morocco
  • Scotland
  • Malta
  • Croatia
  • Iceland

I could really use some help with this. If anyone has serious suggestions, would be nice. My only idea was to buy/build a boat and sail far away.

Thanks...

You have a romantic idea of getting away. You might consider slipping into Canada and hopping on a ship there.

I'm looking for less spying, less war, less religious fanatics, less Walmart...

Here I feel like every part of the government, from police to NSA, is out to get me. Everywhere I look there's a security camera in a public area. Police corruption is out of control. Any time someone wants to improve something, the city/state/feds want to tack on taxes, fees, permits, licenses, insurance requirements, bonds, background checks, references, etc. No common sense at all anymore. (did you hear about the cop who gave kids a ticket for operating a commercial business without a permit/license? It was a lemonade stand!) (did you hear about the guy who has to pay child support for kids that were DNA-proven not to be his?)

TSA think they have a right to fondle your fuck'n nuts in the name of an imaginary terrorist. If you don't want that, you can go through the T-Ray scanner (what the fuck is a T-ray). Or, you can just take a bus... which the last time I rode a bus, I was cuffed and held by Immigration cops because I wouldn't show them any ID when they boarded the bus looking for - who knows what. (illegal search and seizure)

People are thrown in jail and prison, used as examples. People are in prisons for most of their lives because of a completely broken system - and they get out 20-30-40 years later when, on the deathbed, the accuser states that they lied.

War, war, war, war, and more fucking war. For what? A $500,000 missile sent for one person? Foreign countries invaded. Spies in allied countries. Torture camps built on foreign lands so that the military won't get into constitutional trouble for water-boarding -possible- threats illegally on US soil. UN banned (internationally banned) weapons build in the US, used directly by US military against civilian targets in Yugoslavia, Iraq, and possibly other locations. Armed drones for war. Armed drones against foreign civilians. Armed drones against Americans.

Lies, lies, lies, bullshit, more lies, lies, propaganda, lies, bullshit, bullshit, lies, lies, propaganda, vote for me, lies, bullshit, lies, lies, vote for me, lies, lies, lies... your tax dollars hard at work. Oops, the House gets a three week vacation. BRB!

Media picks up on all the important information for Americans to consider: who wore what, who's gay now, powerball numbers, who sings the best, who's too old to be dancing... While the real important things around the world get filtered or ignored.

..................

I hope to find peace and quiet. I want to have clean air and water. I want to be able to grow my own vegetables, in my front yard if I want, and be able to sell my excess to neighbors, tourists, or at a local market - without being scrutinized. I want to see the stars at night. I want to hear birds chirping in the morning and watch little animals run around the area. I would like to sit on my front porch, wave at happy children running by, and trip my fucking balls off on magic mushrooms if I damn well please.

I'm getting older, and I'd like to be someplace where things are nice.

A boat is a simplistic idea; I know there are a few other ways.

Passports on the internetz could be an option, if they'd at least get me into Honduras (where I could live there a couple years and become a citizen with a Honduran passport). Lead the way.

One less ungrateful american to deal with.  I've traveled the world and there is a reason why everyone wants to come to america.

You'd be back in 2 weeks if you went to malta, morraco or croatia.  No one speeaks english and it's a shit hole... double whammy of terribleness.

That's interesting, because not only can you not write English, but you've never been to Croatia. Osim toga, zasto bi itko zelio govoriti samo Engleski? If all you know is one language, then your world is a very, very small place.

And to me that's sad.

There's so many different people and cultures - hell, even where I work, there's got to be five other languages I need to have some type of grasp on to get things done. But, so is this giant melting pot of America. Where the common people here think they're #1 and the whole world needs to learn English (another reason I want out: Missouri and Texas mentalities).

Which, by the way, I have friends in Croatia who read/write/speak with better English grammar than me. So, that's got to say something for them.

I've known people who I refer to as lifers that have lived in one spot their whole lives and think the entire US is the same.  I think it just boils down to the fact they don't know that they don't know what they're missing.  What ever it is that spurs you to ask whatever question it is about whatever thing just isn't there for them.

That's cute American pride. It also works the other way too bub, there's plenty of Americans that want to GTFO because they are sick of it.
I've also traveled the world and I can completely see why people want to get the fuck out.
We are...
- a completely inept government that doesn't give a fuck about you
- turning into a police state
- have the biggest prison population on the planet
- have one of the worst health care systems in the world, even though we have some of the best doctors.. you aren't seeing them unless you are rich.
- we have little work/life balance, fewest amount of PTO compared to most any other country.
- have some of the worst public schooling
- we are for the most part, a shopping mall, fast food nation from coast to coast.
- the quality of our food has gone steadily downhill
- the list could go on

There's a lot of reasons to consider other countries. Even some 'shitty 2nd world' countries have it better than we do in many areas.

America isn't the best country in the world anymore.

Are they sick of it because they have spent time in other places and wish to live there?  Or are they just gambling on it being better?

If you've spent your life growing up in america where the roads are wide and everything is big, it's hard to live in other places with out all of the cushy american comforts.

I can't speak for other people, but for me personally.. it was after having visited many other countries... seeing how their systems work and how they do things.. that I realized America isn't really all that great and other places have a much better overall quality of life.

Most Americans don't even have a passport and have never even left the country. That's considered very odd.. because most people everywhere have passports.
That's part of why most Americans are so ignorant about other countries and cultures

Eh, it depends where you go. English is spoken in the most countries in the world.. so it's not impossible to get by. And one can learn a new language pretty fast, living in the place.

But yeah I would agree.. I wouldn't just move somewhere without at least visiting first.

Morocco, Croatia and malta... not going to get very far on english.  I would imagine the UK countries would be the best bet to simply pick of everything and move to, unless you have cultural ties to the 3 countries I listed.

I suspect that your idea of the "the world" is a few countries in W. Europe.  "The world" includes all countries.  These statements are not correct.
