What's the point of this? The girl gets cuffed and later released because she didn't know her rights and the cop gets a paid vacation for violating them.

i don't have a problem with them reacting to the boys running up to them about to fight. but i'm not sure why he had to drag that little girl by her hair to the ground. that is what took the entire situation up a notch and caused those boys to run over there in the first place, and because of that i think the officer is to blame. if you can't subdue a 100 lb. girl without resorting to brute force you don't need to be in law enforcement.

She didn't comply with a basic order, don't fight the police in the streets, when will these idiots learn?

I didn't fight with the police at 14, I never gave any authority figure a reason to anything like that, it's called being respectful and acting like a civilized person.
I know 7-8 year old's that can follow instructions much better than that girl.

did you bother to open your eyes?
anyway, it wasnt her that had the gun pulled on her, it was the guys that rushed the cop, they werent teens and it looked like the one was spitting blood by the end of the video but this whole thing is a prime example of "dont be a dumbass around cops"

" A Texas officer widely criticized for his handling of black teens at a pool party has resigned"
Apparently after getting a ton of death threats to himself and his family, he's moving on.

Wow!...Those are pretty brash words for a pasty white faced Canadian eey? Just agree to keep your pompous ass up there and there will be no problems....fucking snow birds all come to Florida when fall comes ...then bitch about us as a whole. I'm assuming that you're French Canadian....if not, you should be. I have a lot of friends in both Toronto and Vancouver and none of them act anything like you.

That looked angry to you? I saw abunch of fairly polite teenagers just excersizing their rights asking why theyre being detained, talking cool to the officers. Figuring out whats going on and why random friends and family are getting force on them.
Really listen to the cop at about 45 seconds in. He deserves a medal... That is the attitude you need to deescalate a situation, not man handing a 120 pound girl!
You and I clearly didn't watch the same video. It's one thing to present something in a bias mannor to push a liberal agenda but rewriting the story to better support your argument is disgraceful.

yes, thank you i saw the video. i do understand that the cop wasn't pulling the gun on the girl. but from what i recall the girl wasn't "fighting" the cop. in fact nothing she did warranted the way he treated her. this is probably why the guy resigned. just a hunch.

She was also asked 5-6 times to leave the area and refused to do so, and she also did resist arrest.
It's really not that complicated, follow basic instructions and there will be no issues.

I don't believe it was explained in the video, but what was she or anyone else doing that made it a lawful order to have her/them leave the area. I'm only asking because if it was public property and he didn't have a legal reason to have everyone evacuate the area, she doesn't have to listen.
I personally have no problem with him pulling his gun when he did, if two dudes were rushing me and I could legally carry a gun, I'd pull it out too, he put it back away after they were scared off. It could take only a second to be tackled and have that gun taken from you by two dudes, and no way for him to know what they would of done regardless of their color.
But detaining and arresting people just because they won't listen isn't a reason unless you were giving lawful orders, which she might of been legally standing there and he had no legal reason to have her move but without more information it's too hard to judge who was right and wrong.

so why don't you explain a) what she was being arrested for and b) what she's being charged with?

He told her if she doesn't leave she will be detained and arrested, anyone with commonsense would leave the area.
And yes, her charges were dismissed.
