Get a uv light water pump for the water turning green, a normal filter wont always work 100% with algae growing to much. Algae grows because of to much waste in the water and light. If you have a good filter and you do proper water changes you shouldn't have to much algae to worry about. If you want no algae at all just add a uv light water pump thingy.

Here is the kiddi-pool I was talking about, currently it is used for ducks but I am thinking of re-purposing it.

Looks like it's a pretty popular thing to do turning cattle troughs into fish ponds.
Seems like a fun little project.

That is my cattle-trough/hot-tub, it already has plumbing so converting it into a pond wouldn't be too hard-- that is, I would probably just go get another one for that purpose, since I enjoy the hot-tub.

Get some feeder goldfish to start off with.
They're like 10 for $2-3 at most pet stores.

I probably went through 100 of those little guys a year when I was 12 and had a fish tank.
You need to learn how to properly balance PH levels of the water and provide the right amount of 02.
A good filtration system is also essential, don't get the cheapest one available.

I dunno it has a ton of things in it but I haven't really looked through it. I'll definitely start with gold fish and research til I get something cool. Never owned a fish but I wouldn't let something under my care die. My dog and cat know that.

That is one of the coolest DIY projects I've seen in a long time.
How does the heat transfer from the fire pit to the water through that hose/pipe?

And how much do one of those cattle troughs run for?
I'm just really curious after seeing your pics since it's something I would really consider doing once I sell my current place and buy a home with a backyard.

It was bought new for 300$(Didn't want a used one)
Piping cost another 50$

I have copper tubing coiled up in the fire to create convection heating.

I can get it heated up to 100F easy--

I don't get the funny.

Every house down here has a pretty sizable backyard.
It's not just the city skyline like you see on TV, decent residential neighborhoods all across SoFlo are composed of mainly houses.

Apartments/Condos like mine are the majority when it comes to living on or close to the beach, but I'll gladly move a couple miles inland to live in a house so I don't ever have to deal with this condo bullshit again. Such a pain in the ass.
