I've put in around 80 hours or so and have 69 percent complete. Even if i get 100 I'll still want to go back and s rank iteverything so it's massive amounts of time if your into playing like that.
Also i found the cassette tape from pt. 204683. I wonder if playing it near guards scares them.
Does anyone know how to get the lisa decoy unlocked?

My Steam timer says 42 hours, and my game is giving me 17%, so I might be the explorer of the bunch it sounds like.
Personally only played MGS 1 and MGS 2 before this one, so I have a bit of context but at other times I feel lost in the story.
Free roaming mode is what I have been spending most of my time in, catching animals and grabbing soldiers for my base -- it is also nice that doing things like shooting out lights or blowing up power generators in free roaming mode can often leave the equipment damaged during mission playthroughs, meaning I can find my way into places before I actually have to visit them for missions.
The game plays more similar to an RPG than the other MGS titles I played; missions can be ignored for prolonged periods, and character progression is "leveled up" by kidnapping soldiers and equipment for your Mother Base.
The difference with it from something like Skyrim is that there is only one real option for game play style (Stealth).
My only real objections with the game have been: I can't play as a female character -- comparatively trivial as a complaint given the quality of content, but it is a general gameplay preference for me There is no Save Anywhere feature -- not necessary as the game has not crashed once for me, and the episodic nature of everything vital to the game ensures I have plenty of autosave points, but I have OCD and at times being able to save anywhere helps me alleviate feeling stressed out or overwhelmed (my Skyrim folder is at 51459 for total Skyrim saves made so far -- constantly making new save points then just batch delete them weeks later). At times the game content is almost too well presented -- the mission to get Huey back to Mother Base actually managed to stress me out to the point that I have been taking a break from the game for a few; went back and made myself a new Skyrim character just to cool my head back off.
My biggest complaint about Witcher 3 as an RPG experience was I always felt disconnected from Geralt as a character, and MGS finally gave me context to comprehend why. Was under the impression that it was because I was unable to play as a woman like I could in Elder Scrolls or Dragon Age. Turns out, the act of character creation is what pulls me in -- MGS had me create my online avatar before being able to play through story mode, and the experience of doing so drew me into the game despite Snake in story mode not actually looking like the character I made.
MGS feels like it is playing like a stealth-oriented RPG. Sneak based characters are my preferred mode of play in Elder Scrolls and Fallout, and Witcher 3 and Dragon Age didn't really fill that gap for me. MGS feels like it can actually help hold me over until Fallout 4 drops in terms of gameplay, even if the core story may not have the various defined dialogue paths.
Goddamn I babble sometimes. ._.

I'm at about 25% but I'm not sure how many hours I'm into it I've definitely gone back to complete tasks and get better scores on levels but that won't be my main focus until after I complete the story

I just finished the prologue and got to Afhghanistan. I have absolutely no fucking clue what just happened The tutorial for the controls was pretty shit I gotta say. I've been just repetitively trying to infiltrate that first town right where you start off in Afghanistan to puzzle out all the controls. Been having a real bitch of a time getting close enough to any of the guards to pull off a grab/interrogation before they hear my footsteps coming towards them.

Guessing this is a feature of the Buddy System that I have not quite gotten to yet. If so, thank you for the heads up, having multiple characters to swap through may well add a different dynamic to the game.

Was mostly referring to how the game is more or less built around Snake, and the character creation at the beginning is gender locked. More similar to Witcher 3 than something like Fallout, Skyrim, or Dragon Age. MGS still fired up at the start with a character creation menu though; and the act of creating a character in the game world served to immerse me in the game more, even if the character was gender locked.
In terms of content and presentation, MGS is so good that my initial discouragement is largely mitigated. Still going to jump ship to Fallout 4 and modify Nora into my women of choice as soon as it drops though.

In the early game I mainly focused on headshots with the tranq gun to disable guards, then woke them back up and interrogated them that way.
Once I leveled up my R&D platform enough to get the Sneaking Suit I swapped over to that and no one hears a thing and 90% of my takedowns are done from melee to preserve ammo/suppressor integrity.
Sneaking Suit muffles footsteps, but it might not be as effective as camo for visuals when hiding in the sand and grass.

I had this problem when I first started playing ground zeroes you have to slow down as you approach a guard you can also point a gun at their backs to hold them up (you don't have to get as close) after holding them up when they're held up you can interrogate them or tell them to get down (they won't get back up)

it's not really a part of the buddy system you might not be there yet (I think it requires the combat platform) but it can be found on the same screen as the camouflage option
also I looked last night I'm 25% with around 25 hours of play time

I'm at 4/4, 3/4, or 2/4 on all my platforms, so maybe I just missed this then. Unless it is a feature that pops up after heading into Africa missions?

After you pick heli deploment location you go to sortie prep where you choose weapons, buddy and vehicles. Go to select character and you can use anybody you've fulton'd with the exception of a few story characters.(god i would have made kojima do some terrible things on the child soldier missions if this weren't the case)

No shit, I never would have caught that without the heads up, thank you.
I remember checking that out early on and the list being empty, but it looks like it does indeed have the combat platform team on there now that my base is built up.

Hmm, about how far into the game is the sneaking suit available? I stopped last night after getting to Mother Base and doing the fulton tutorial (and giggling about them saluting me and saying its an honor while I had a gun pointed at their head or was about to kick the shit out of them).

Holding up seemed to be kind of iffy for me, half the time I tried it last night they'd freeze but the other half they'd turn around and raise the alert. Dunno if I just haven't gotten the distance right or if it doesn't work for tranq guns anymore or what. I was baked as hell while I was playing last night though so I think that may have been a contributing factor
I DO know, however, that I'm gonna wind up causing hella alerts throughout the game just by being clumsy and accidentally walking into pottery or knocking shit over by bumping into tables

Yeah but pc won't have mgo till early next year, and personally something never feels right using a keyboard and mouse for video games, and even less right to have a controller plugged into a computer. Idk I'm kinda a gaming purist like that, really i can't stand any controller other than the dualshocks. They feel like an extension of my hands considering playstation has always been my preferred console. Although pc's do run games better and mods always win , something just doesn't feel right about pc gaming.
I can play music over the game on ps4, but with mgs i would like the game to have control and cut it off when a cutscene starts etc.

Well i finally finished my nuke. It takes 27 hours to build, you have to have the game running and connected to servers which is hard to do when the servers go down every night for maintenance. In total it took about 5 days to build. It made me covered in blood that couldn't wash off and i had a huge horn jutting from my head. I actually liked the added challenge and altered dialog from mother base soldiers when snake becomes a demon.
So i go out and do a couple side ops, i get invaded a few times, but surprisingly no one was successful today. I do some more side ops climb in my heli and ... SNAKE IS CLEAN MY FUCKING NUKE IS GONE. WTF!? What a load of bullshit. 750k in fuel and a lot more hmp just vanished in thin air. I could understand if i got invaded and failed but i actually had a good day on that side and doubt that was it. If it was a fucking notification would be nice, instead of HEY FUCK YOU, YOUR NUKE IS GONE!
TLDR, don't build a nuke until they patch it or mention this issue in some way because theres a good chance you'll only have it for about 4 hours before it just disappears.

I've only had my fob for a little while now and I'm not sure how to visit friends bases
it also seems like the story is picking up like every 2-3 missions I'm getting a cut scene
