Nobody in construction starts with skills. And that is what I was going to recommend. It will also keep you in shape without having to go to a gym.
I don't know about that I still managed to get a beer belly ....
First month blows you will be sore but as long as you know how to work you will be fine. My favorite fucking New guys are the gym rats they are always the biggest pussies
Oh yeah. They have the wrong muscles and they learn that right quick.

Carpentry is great work if you can read a good tape and bust your ass. People take notice to somebody who's willing to work as hard as the next guy.
Can't stand working next to a lazy fuck, and that's how you get less jobs yknow?

^I think carpentry is pretty cool too and in fact this guy from my current job is going to school for it.
I am not sure if I want to go to school, though. I mean I am not very book-smart. In fact, I hate bookz

You and all the other women in the world. Sadly I am married and faithful. She might let me do a little motorboat, though.

Then look into combining school with a practical course. If there is a carpentry course in school you can follow i'm sure it's mostly on hands work rather then sitting around reading books.
Or you could go to a carpenter and saw you want to be an apprentice
I've done this before I just say I don't want a lot of money. If people see initiative, they like you. Somehow. haha...

I never went to any carpentry school nor did I ever officially apprentice, I just went to work for whoever would hire me. Today I am a master carpenter.

Yeah, school is definitely not required to become a master carpeteater. Don't let drug tests or book smarts hold you back from applying for jobs OP. Get you some fake piss and apply for the stuff you want, not what you think you can get.

Thanks for the encouragement, lil dude. I will most likely start checking out schools and programs for carpentry in my area. Although I think there is still some sort of stereotypical view that women can't or shouldn't be carpenter (it's a man's job, heh). I don't know if people will hire a guy over me because of my gender. If this really happens it will suck balls for me because I had already put in money and time to train for it.
p.s why do I need fake piss?

You don't. I've never heard of a construction company to test for drug use. Maybe the big ones. I never asked an applicant about it or if they had a criminal record. The reason why you don't see many women is that it requires quite a bit of upper body strength that very few women have. We have to lift and carry heavy shit on occasion.

I don't know, maybe it's my attitude.
People are just reluctant here in Belgium when they are self-employed/entrepeneur because they have to pay 50 percent taxes and that basically comes down to an employer paying double the wage you earn.
^Not that this is anything you can discuss with any sensible workperson but ah well
Don't let my stupid comment hold you down, please ask that guy. Please do

If you can find it, manufacturing/factory jobs are a good choice. Most of them pay pretty well, don't require any interaction with the public, and keep you busy. They typically don't require any degrees either. The problem of course is they're hard to find nowadays in the US, but it can be done, particularly since you're a woman because at least at my job we have like 98% men so they're always trying to hire women to be more diverse but the ladies can't handle the work so they quit or get fired pretty quickly.
