When trying to quit fake weed and smokes at the same time, I finally realized, that I had to remember the reasons I wanted to quit (because I knew I wanted to for every second I abstained except for the very last few that let me light up). I took a little piece of paper and wrote on it, "immediate regret," and stuck it in the clear wrapper. If I didn't have smokes, I would buy them, so I kept them in a drawer. Every time I broke down and went to get them, that paper made me second-guess myself for the two seconds I needed to (incredibly reluctantly) put it back down. After a while, the process felt stupid and I realized I had gone a few weeks without smoking and pride sort of took over. Don't think you're a superhuman, some days when you're super-stressed (or feeling whatever feeling makes you want a smoke), don't go outside with the friends that smoke. You can see them the next day and they won't hate you for it. Quitting smoking's not an easy thing to do, but I've studied addiction in depth for a year and a half, trying to help my friends out. If you want to understand how ciggs grab you buy the brain and don't let go, check out In the Realm of Hungry Ghosts. It's about addiction in general, and it relates every type of addiction from drugs to shopping. It was a damn good read, addicted or not. lol.
Tons of luck to you, bud. Find where you're weakest. It's a war

Since getting a real e cig I have had zero desire to smoke cigs ... quitting was effortless
I'm addicted to my e cig now but I have cut my nicotine intake to a fraction what it is and am not inhaling carcinogens
And on that note.. just spotted this sale for the exact same thing, almost 20 bucks less WITH free shipping http://vaporjoe.blogspot.com/2015/06/usa-blowout-kanger-subox-subtank-free.html
That's a killer fucking deal for what looks to be a super solid device. I know the Subtank Mini is quality, but that new 50w box mod looks sweet as well. I think I paid more than that for my first setup which was just a shitty 800mAh ego battery and a shitty tank that lasted me like 2 weeks. I'd jump on that if I didn't already have like 8 devices.

cigs made me miserable and i hated every one i smoked for like 8 years.
ecigs bro. get a nice set up, it pays for itself 200x over. Go to a vape shop, try every flavor, find 1-2 flavors you like and 2-3 you can stand.
I didn't even remember what it was like being able to walk up stairs without feelings like i was dying. I'm not like, fit by any means, but i can breathe now.

I don't think your lungs actually recover much.
I haven't noticed any benefits since quitting

It definitely does. The lungs start repairing themselves the minute you stop smoking.. however it depends how damaged they were in the first place. Obviously they will never go back to fully healthy as they were before ever smoking.. but the sooner you quit, the better condition you can be in. http://www.slideshare.net/2stopsmokingtips/do-lungs-heal-after-quitting-smoking
Personally, I noticed vast improvements in my cardio health and lung capacity within about 2-3 weeks after quitting smoking when I started vaping. I used to not be able to run up stairs or run for more than 20 feet without gasping for air. I can do that now and feel fine.

I think it's because I probably smoke more pot, since I quit smoking cigarettes..
I haven't noticed any lung improvement, but I didn't notice much damage to begin with, but I know all scientific data says the lung repairs itself immediately, like even a few hours after your last smoke it starts to get better. I'm just saying in my experience I haven't noticed shit.
It's only been like 3 or 4 months though. And I still have a cig when I'm fucked up so maybe that's why. Only if I'm super drunk or benzed or tripping though, and it's gotta be hard. I used to smoke after eating, after smoking weed, after sex, with my coffee, etc etc. The only thing I miss is going outside on smoke breaks from work. I miss getting the fresh air.
But now I just take breaks to come shoot the shit with you fuckers

I'm no super expert but if you are still smoking, even a little bit.. it's possible that is negating or stopping the lungs from repairing themselves. AFAIK in order for the lungs to heal themselves, you have to stop smoking completely. It takes a few weeks after quitting for the lungs to go into full recovery mode AFAIK. And can take years to fully heal.
And I'm not sure pot alone can be blamed on it. I never stopped smoking pot (actually I probably toked even more after quitting) but I definitely felt my lung health improving over time. Yeah you are getting some tar and shit from smoking, but cannabis doesn't have the 25+ carcinogens that are found in cigarette smoke.. and cannabis acts as a Vasodilator, (opens up/dilates the bronchial tubes and blood vessels), whereas cigarette smoke is a vasoconstrictor, the exact opposite.. that's why you can often cough up tar and shit after taking a big rip.. it opens you up.

Marijuana saves me from pneumonia and lung infections. I've got this thing since childhood, I get it at least once a year, and from years of DXM abuse it's 15+ years later and I gag seeing cough syrup. Mary Jane is literally the best expectorant in the world. Eighth of weed for 20 bucks or doctor visit after doctor visit and antibiotics for hundreds of dollars. And I get all

But marijuana paralysis the cilia, (the hair like structures in a lung responsible for cleaning it)
So my increase in pot use could be causing my lungs to not recover like they should.
Or maybe your right and smoking the 3 cigs a month or whatever social fucked up cigs I have a month are causing it not to heal.
I also only smoked for like two years. Maybe 3. More like 3. And it was like one or two a day for the first year, and never got above half a pack a day. I don't know how people smoke a whole pack a day. If I have like half a pack in a day I wake up struggling to breath and coughing up black shit.
Oh yeah, I don't so that anymore so that's a positive effect. I haven't coughed up tar since quitting.
But the first week after quitting, I coughed up so much God damn shit my lungs had to be cleaning themselves.

Yeah when those lung chunks come up and you've gotta pull a 4 inch string of charred dead lung flesh out of your throat it really is a clear sign to gtfo. Some of us never learn unfortunately.

It's cool if you don't want to turn it into a hobby.. many of us do... but as long as the ecig gets you off the cigarettes, it's doing it's job and we are all winners.
Or, if you don't need a new hobby, or can't be arsed to learn all the jargon that goes with e-cigs, there is always the 'nicorette'.

I gave up a nigh on forty year, 30+ a day, roll-up smoking habit overnight using these things.
There's next to nothing to learn, and, if you are in the UK, they are available on the NHS for the normal £8.20 prescription charge, or free if you are on benefits. Can't get much cheaper than that.

Funny story about nicorette (the gum)
One of my first jobs ever I worked at CVS (pharmacy).. this one lady would come in every week and buy a giant box of nicorette (~$45).. one box would last her a week. One day I asked her when she quit smoking and if the gum was working for her. She said... "oh no.. I still smoke a pack or two a day... I'm just addicted to the gum too" Turned out the lady was spending about $100 a week to support her nicotine addiction to both the gum and cigs. Shit is definitely not cheap here. It's more expensive than cigarettes by a long shot. Like $50-$70 for a box of 100 pieces, which some people go through in a week.

Nicotine does that THC is a bronchodilator.
I keep coughing up phlegm when I smoke cannabis and go out for extensive sporting.
I don't do that when I smoke cigs beforehand.
I smoke 50g per week
Nortriptyline might help... Of all the people I know who have tried this medication, they've all quit. (some relapsed though but when on it, not smoking)
